    Abstract : This thesis is an effort to investigate the operation and the performanceof modular multilevel converters (M2Cs). Proven to be the most promisingtopology in high-voltage high-power applications, it is necessary to put aneffort in understanding the physical laws that govern the internal dynamicsof such converters, in order to design appropriate control methods. 3. 33. Modular Enzyme-Responsive Polysaccharide-Based Hydrogels for Biofabrication

    Author : Sajjad Naeimipour; Daniel Aili; Robert Selegård; Alireza Dolatshahi-Pirouz; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 3D cell-culture; Bioprinting; Alginate; Hyaluronan; Cancer model;

    Abstract : Engineered human tissue and disease models can decrease the cost and time of developing new drugs and treatments, facilitate personalized medicine, and eliminate the need for animal models that poorly represent the human body and are ethically problematic. However, the current conventional cell expansion methods using 2D culture flasks cannot enable the development of such complex multi-cellular 3D models. READ MORE

  4. 34. Modulation of Modular Multilevel Converters for HVDC Transmission

    Author : Arman Hassanpoor; Hans-Peter Nee; Staffan Norrga; Rainer Marquardt; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HVDC; switching schemes; modulation; high power converters; power grids; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : The outstanding features of modular multilevel converters (MMC) have recently gained much attention in the high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) transmission field. Power quality, converter cost and system performance are three crucial aspects of HVDC MMCs which are directly linked to the converter modulation and switching schemes. READ MORE

  5. 35. Evaluation of Modular Thermally Driven Heat Pump Systems

    Author : Corey Blackman; Eva Thorin; Chris Bales; Christian Schweigler; Mälardalens universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sorption heat pump; sorption module; thermochemical energy storage; artificial neural network; built environment; solar energy; gas-driven heat pump; solar cooling; heating and cooling; renewable energy; energy efficiency; experimental; simulation; analytical; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik; Reesbe företagsforskarskola;

    Abstract : The building sector accounts for approximately 40% of primary energy use within the European Union, therefore reductions in the energy use intensity of this sector are critical in decreasing total energy usage. Given that the majority of energy used within the built environment is for space conditioning and domestic hot water preparation, prudence would suggest that decreasing primary energy used for these end purposes would have the biggest overall environmental impact.
