6. C1 Building Blocks: New Approaches for Thiomethylations and Esterification
Abstract : The thioether motif is found in numerous pharmaceuticals. The simplest form of this motif, the methyl-thioether is similarly found in many biologically active compounds and has exhibited many advantageous properties. The installation of the thiomethyl moiety can be troublesome due to the toxicity and malodor of small sulfur reagents. READ MORE

7. Synthesis of Organic Chromophores for Dye Sensitized Solar Cells
Abstract : This thesis is divided into four parts with organic chromophores for dye sensitized solar cells as the common feature and an introduction with general concepts of the dye sensitized solar cells. The first part of the thesis describes the development of an efficient organic chromophore for dye sensitized solar cells. READ MORE

8. Synthesis and chemical modification of some carbohydrates containing amino groups
Abstract : The alkylation with alkyl trifluoromethanesulfonates of hydroxyl groups in carbohydrates, containing base- or acid-labile substituents, has been examined. The reagent simultaneously transforms acetamindo groups to N-methylamino groups. Synthesis and nitrous acid deamination of methyl 4-amino-4-deoxy-β-L-arabinopyranoside has been performed. READ MORE

9. Pharmacogenetics and Antipsychotic Treatment in Schizophrenia with Special Focus on Adverse Drug Reactions
Abstract : Genetically determined differences in drug metabolism and disposition and drug targets play a pivotal role in the interindividual variability in the clinical outcome of antipsychotic treatment. The aim of this thesis was to study the impact of polymorphisms in genes involved in the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of antipsychotics, with special focus on their extrapyramidal and metabolic adverse effects. 10. Ligand Dependent Regioselectivity in Palladium Mediated Allylic Alkylation
Abstract : In this thesis, different aspects on ligand dependent regioselectivity in palladium mediated allylic alkylation have been studied. It is believed that the regioselectivity is a result of nucleophilic attack trans to phosphorous when applying ligands wih different donor atoms. READ MORE
