  1. 1. Moisture Buffering in the Indoor Environment

    Author : Kaisa Svennberg; Avdelningen för Byggnadsfysik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknik; furniture; textiles; moisture buffering; beds; indoor air; indoor environment; sorption isotherms; field measurements; definition scheme; Technological sciences;

    Abstract : Moisture buffering in the indoor environment is the ability, through absorption and desorption, of surface materials to attenuate the moisture variations of the indoor air. Moisture buffering plays an important role in understanding the risks for biological growth in surface materials in the indoor environment, e.g. READ MORE

  4. 4. The hygrothermal inertia of massive timber connstructions

    Author : Stéphane Hameury; Ove Söderström; Carsten Rode; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; 1H MRI; Building simulation environment; Heat buffering capacity; Heavy timber construction; Indoor climate; In-situ measurement; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Building manufacturing engineering; Byggproduktionsteknik;

    Abstract : The work presented in this Doctoral dissertation concerns the ability of heavy timber structures to passively reduce the fluctuations of the indoor temperature and of the indoor relative humidity, through the dynamic process of heat and moisture storage in wood. We make the hypothesis that the potential offered by the hygrothermal inertia of heavy timber structures is significant, and that it could provide a passive way of regulating the indoor climate. 5. 5. Direct and indirect pressures of climate change on nutrient and carbon cycling in northern forest ecosystems : Dynamic modelling for policy support

    Author : Klas Lucander; BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Forest; boreal ecosystems; Forest biogeochemistry; Forest bioenergy; Boreal coniferous forest; base cations; Biogeochemical cycles; Dynamic Modelling; Carbon cycle; nitrogen cycle; decision support; policy-making; Weathering; Forestry; Land use change;

    Abstract : Northern forest ecosystems play an important role in mitigating climate change by sequestrating carbon (C), while additionally providing and regulating other ecosystem services. A majority of the Swedish environmental quality objects (EQOs) that guide Swedish environmental policy and management are associated with the forest, and they have proven difficult to achieve.
