  1. 1. Moisture Transport in Porous Media. Modelling Based on Kirchhoff Potentials

    Author : Jesper Arfvidsson; Avdelningen för Byggnadsfysik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; moisture distribtion; wood drying; wood; diffusion coefficient; numerical modelling; moisture flow; Moisture; transient measurements; periodic boundary condition; penetration depth; sorption coefficient; non-linear moisture flow; calculation model; anisitropy; Kirchhoff potentials; evaluation; moisture transport; Building construction; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis is focused on the development of the new concept to describe isothermal moisture transport using Kirchhoff potentials. The first four papers deal with moisture transport in porous media using Kirchhoff potentials. The last three papers deal with wood. READ MORE

  2. 2. Rapid measurements of the moisture content in biofuel

    Author : Jenny Nyström; Erik Dahlquist; Stefan Backa; Eva Thorin; Bo Franzon; Clarke Topp; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : radiofrequency measurement; moisture content measurement; fuel characterization; biofuel; time domain measurement; Bulk measurement; Multivariate data analysis;

    Abstract : An increasing number of power plants in Scandinavia are beginning to use biofuel instead of coal or oil. The material in the new fuel is a mixture of woodchips, mostly Pine, Spruce and Salix, bark, GROT (tops and branches from felling waste) and sawdust from sawmills. It is heterogeneous, having a moisture content varying from 15% up to 65%. READ MORE

  3. 3. Hygroscopic moisture in concrete - drying, measurements & related material properties

  4. 4. Moisture Conditions in Exterior Wooden Walls and Timber During Production and Use

    Author : Lars Olsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; laboratory test; MRD-index; moisture; driving rain; hysteresis; wood; precipitation; timber; weather barrier; mould growth; façade; wall; wind barrier; measurement; field test; mold;

    Abstract : Thermal insulation of building envelopes has improved over the years. This means that building envelope have become more susceptible to defects, with an increased risk of moisture damage. The criteria for energy consumption have become more rigorous, but the shift should not lead to moisture problems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Moisture content profiles and surface phenomena during drying of wood

    Author : Anders Rosenkilde; KTH; []
    Keywords : computer tomography; diffusion; magnetic resonance; moisture measurement; moisture profiles; surface emission; wood drying;

    Abstract : Timber drying is one of the most important processes whenmanufacturing sawn timber products. The drying processinfluences deformations, surface checking, discoloration andhence, the product quality and the manufacturing costs. READ MORE
