  1. 1. Moisture Transport in Porous Media. Modelling Based on Kirchhoff Potentials

    University dissertation from Byggnadsfysik LTH, Lunds Tekniska Högskola

    Author : Jesper Arfvidsson; [1998]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; moisture distribtion; wood drying; wood; diffusion coefficient; numerical modelling; moisture flow; Moisture; transient measurements; periodic boundary condition; penetration depth; sorption coefficient; non-linear moisture flow; calculation model; anisitropy; Kirchhoff potentials; evaluation; moisture transport; Building construction; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis is focused on the development of the new concept to describe isothermal moisture transport using Kirchhoff potentials. The first four papers deal with moisture transport in porous media using Kirchhoff potentials. The last three papers deal with wood. READ MORE

  2. 2. Moisture transport and fixation in porous materials at high moisture levels

    University dissertation from Division of Building Materials, LTH, Lund University

    Author : Mårten Janz; [2000]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; building construction; water retention curve; diffusivity; suction; Moisture transport; moisture fixation; absorption; capillary transport; byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis focuses on developing methods of measuring moisture properties at high moisture levels. Paper I deal with a new method of measuring moisture diffusivity at high moisture levels. Papers II to IV present methods of measuring moisture storage capacity as well as results from such measurements. READ MORE

  3. 3. Experimental studies of ion transport in cementitious materials under partially saturated conditions

    University dissertation from Division of Building Materials, LTH, Lund University

    Author : Nilla Olsson; [2018]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cement; Bruk; Betong; Jontransport; Fukttransport; Sorptionsisoterm; Tillsatsmaterial; Kiselstoft; Masugnsslagg; Ciment; Mortier; Béton; Transport ionique; Transport d humidité; Sorption de vapeur d eau; Additions minérales; Fumée de silice; Laitier de haut fourneau granulé moulu; Cement; Mortar; Concrete; Ion transport; moisture transport; Water vapor sorption; Supplementary cementitious materials SCMs ; Silica fume; Ground granulated blast furnace slag;

    Abstract : Cement production is responsible for a significant portion of manmade CO2 emissions. This motivates the development of cementitious binders with a lower carbon footprint. Considering the emissions in a longer perspective, the durability of concrete structures is absolutely essential. READ MORE

  4. 4. On Sahelian-Sudan rainfall and its moisture sources

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Meteorology, Stockholm University

    Author : Abubakr A. M. Salih; Stockholms universitet.; [2015]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sudan; Sahel; rainfall; land use; deforestation; moisture sources; moisture transport; Lagrangian; moisture tagging; regional model; climate modeling; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi;

    Abstract : The African Sahel is one of the most vulnerable regions to climate variability at different time scales. It is an arid to semi-arid region with limited water resources. The summer rainfall is one of these sources, but it exhibits pronounced interannual variability. This thesis presents several aspects of Sahelian Sudan rainfall. READ MORE

  5. 5. Moisture permeability of mature concrete, cement mortar and cement paste

    University dissertation from Division of Building Materials, LTH, Lund University

    Author : Göran Hedenblad; [1993]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; moisture transport; cement paste; moisture permeability; concrete; moisture flow; cement mortar;

    Abstract : Moisture permeability tests were performed on specimens of concrete, cement mortar and cement paste with the bottom side in water or in moist air and the upper side in a relative humidity of 33 %. The distribution of the relative humidity within the specimen was measured, at stationary conditions, as well as the amount of water which pass through the specimen. READ MORE
