  1. 1. Molecular orientation in cellulose fibers and composites

    Author : Leo Svenningsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; composite; molecular orientation; lignin; solid-state NMR; Raman spectroscopy; fibers; X-ray scattering; carbon fibers; regenerated cellulose;

    Abstract : The scope of this thesis is to quantitatively investigate the molecular orientation distribution of regenerated cellulose fibers and composites. The molecular orientation is known to affect macroscopic properties such as tensile strength of the fiber. READ MORE

  2. 2. Exploring the Molecular Dynamics of Proteins and Viruses

    Author : Daniel Larsson; David van der Spoel; Modesto Orozco; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molecular dynamics; virus dynamics; capsid dissolution; satellite tobacco necrosis virus; satellite tobacco mosaic virus; virus genome structure; gas phase protein structure; water layer; micelle embedded protein; membrane protein; Chemistry with specialization in Biophysics; Kemi med inriktning mot biofysik;

    Abstract : Knowledge about structure and dynamics of the important biological macromolecules — proteins, nucleic acids, lipids and sugars — helps to understand their function. Atomic-resolution structures of macromolecules are routinely captured with X-ray crystallography and other techniques. READ MORE

  3. 3. Two-dimensional Nanocomposites Based on Cellulose Nanofibrils and Graphene Oxide

    Author : Hanieh Mianehrow; Lars Berglund; Aji Mathew; KTH; []
    Keywords : Cellulose nanofibrils; graphene oxide; orientation; reinforcement; oxygen barrier; bio-nanocomposite; moisture; molecular adhesion; interfacial shear strength.; Nanocellulosa; grafenoxid; orientering; förstärkning; syrebarriär; bionanokomposit; fukt; molekylär adhesion; skjuvhållfasthet hos gränsytan.; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Abstract : Two-dimensional (2D) nanocomposites based on cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) and 2D nanomaterials are of interest as sustainable materials combining functional and structural properties. To achieve reinforcement effects from 2D nanomaterials, their orientation and dispersion state in the CNF matrix are important. READ MORE

  4. 4. Recycling and durability of PVC materials focusing on pre- and post-consumer wastes from building products

    Author : Nazdaneh Yarahmadi; SP – Sveriges Tekniska Forskningsinstitut *(2016-12-31) SP – Sveriges Tekniska Forskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Accelerated ageing; Activation energy; Annealing; Cables; Dehydrochlorination; Dismantling; DSC; Elongation at break; Emissions; Energy recovery; Flooring; Heat ageing; Lifetime; Orientation; Physical ageing; Plasticised PVC; Plasticiser depletion; Profiles; Recycling; Repeated extrusion; Residual stability; Rigid PVC; Sustainable building; Chlorination; Degradation; Durability; Mechanical properties; Plastic building materials; Plasticizers; Stabilizers agents ; Tensile properties; Molecular level; Polyvinyl chlorides;

    Abstract : The potential for recycling various polymeric materials contained within buildings constructed in the late 1960s and 1970s in Sweden was investigated during the course of this work. Three residential blocks were studied to establish the quantity of materials available for recycling, to investigate the difficulty in and time needed for the dismantling of the buildings, the degree of purity of the materials, and the possibility of separating the materials. 5. 5. The Biodiversity of Hydrogenases in Frankia : Characterization, regulation and phylogeny

    Author : Melakeselam Leul Zerihun; Anita Sellstedt; Kornel Kovács; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biodiversity; Frankia; immunoblotting; gene expression; uptake hydrogenase; hydrogen-evolving hydrogenase; nickel; phylogeny; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : All the eighteen Frankia strains isolated from ten different actinorhizal host plants showed uptake hydrogenase activity. The activity of this enzyme is further increased by addition of nickel. Nickel also enhanced the degree of hydrogenase transfer into the membranes of Frankia, indicating the role of this metal in the processing of this enzyme. READ MORE
