1. Tensor Products of Highest Weight Representations and Skew-Symmetric Matrix Equations A+B+C=0
Abstract : The question of characterizing the eigenvalues for the sum of two Hermitian matrices, was solved in 1999, after almost a century of efforts. The saturation conjecture for GL_C(n) was proven by Knutson and Tao, filling in the last gap in Horn’s conjecture. READ MORE

2. Exercising Mathematical Competence: Practising Representation Theory and Representing Mathematical Practice
Abstract : This thesis assembles two papers in mathematics and two papers in mathematics education. In the mathematics part, representation theory is practised. Two Clebsch-Gordan type problems are addressed. READ MORE

3. Spin momentum transfer effects for spintronic device applications
Abstract : The recent discovery that a spin-polarized current can exert a large torque on a ferromagnet, through direct transfer of spin angular momentum, offers the possibility of electrical current controlled manipulation of magnetic moment in nanoscale magnetic device structures. This so-called spin torque effect holds great promise for two applications, namely, spin torque oscillators (STOs) for wireless communication and radar communication, and spin transfer torque RAM (STT-RAM) for data/information storage. 4. Packaging methods and storage time : effects on beef quality
Abstract : Consumers base their purchasing choices on perceived quality and a bright red colour of beef is to many a sign of freshness and good meat quality, making colour the most important quality attribute for retailers. The most common consumer packaging types for beef in Sweden is high-oxygen modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), with the gas composition (80% O₂; 20% CO₂). READ MORE

5. Sensor Fusion for Automotive Applications
Abstract : Mapping stationary objects and tracking moving targets are essential for many autonomous functions in vehicles. In order to compute the map and track estimates, sensor measurements from radar, laser and camera are used together with the standard proprioceptive sensors present in a car. READ MORE
