  1. 11. Electron dynamics in graphene in the presence of an electrical field

    University dissertation from ; Chalmers tekniska högskola; Gothenburg

    Author : Roland Jago; [2017]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bloch equations; density matrix formalism; graphene; relaxation dynamics; photoconduction effect; carrier multiplication;

    Abstract : Graphene as atomically thin two-dimensional material exhibits remarkableoptical and electronic properties that suggest its technological applicationin novel optoelectronic devices, such as graphene-based lasers and photodetectors.The linear electronic bandstructure and the vanishing band gap atthe Dirac point open up new relaxation channels, such as Auger scattering. 2. 12. Collective Collapse and Performance Contagion in Basketball

    University dissertation from Lund University

    Author : Simon Granér; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2010]
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; team momentum; performance contagion; team performance; Collective collapse;

    Abstract : In this thesis, collective collapse in basketball is investigated. Although experienced by most team sport players, the phenomenon still puzzles the world of sports. Collective collapse is described as a sudden decrease in performance quality by a sport team, often with a devastating effect on the game outcome. READ MORE

  3. 13. Aerosol deposition to coastal forests: a wind tunnel approach

    University dissertation from Växjö, Kalmar : Linnaeus University Press

    Author : Ausra Reinap; Linnéuniversitetet.; [2011]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NaCl aerosol; dry deposition; climate change; coastal-zone forest; Quercus robur; wind tunnel; edge effect; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science;

    Abstract : Aerodynamically rough surfaces of forests provide for efficient air/ canopy exchange of mass, heat and momentum. In that context, the effects of forest edges come into focus, and therefore, coastal-zone forests constitute aparticular concern. READ MORE

  4. 14. Air-Sea Exchange of Momentum and Sensible Heat Over the Baltic Sea

    University dissertation from Uppsala University Library

    Author : Xiaoli Guo Larsén; Uppsala universitet.; [2003]
    Keywords : Meteorology; meteorologi;

    Abstract : Long term measurements are used to explore the wave impact on the momentum and sensible heat transfer in the marine atmospheric surface layer. This is important in determining the boundary conditions of atmosphere-ocean coupled models of many scales. READ MORE

  5. 15. Steam condensation in a water pool and its effect on thermal stratification and mixing

    University dissertation from Sweden : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Ignacio Gallego-Marcos; KTH.; [2018]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Steam injection; EHS EMS; blowdown pipes; spargers; chugging; oscillatory bubble; CFD; condensation pool; stratification; mixing; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Abstract : The Pressure Suppression Pool (PSP) of a Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) is a large heat sink designed to limit the containment pressure by condensing steam released from the primary coolant system. The development of thermal stratification is a safety concern since it leads to higher containment pressures than in completely mixed conditions, and can affect the performance of systems such as the emergency core cooling and containment spray, which the use PSP as a source of water.
