  1. 1. From Parasitoids to Gall Inducers and Inquilines : Morphological Evolution in Cynipoid Wasps

    Author : Hege Vårdal; Fredrik Ronquist; Göran Sahlén; Ulf Jondelius; Nunzio Isidoro; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; gall inducer; parasitoid; inquiline; gall induction; morphology; Biologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Abstract : One of the large lineages of parasitic wasps, the Cynipoidea, exhibits three distinctly different life modes. Slightly more than half of the about 3000 species are parasitoids in insect larvae, whereas the remaining species are associated with plants, either as gall inducers or as inquilines (guests feeding on plant tissue in galls). 2. 2. Housing Layout and Space Use. A Study of Swedish and Chinese Neighbourhood Units

    Author : Min Ye; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; neighbourhood spatial layouts; Sweden; China; morphological structures;

    Abstract : Housing layouts designed as neighbourhood units are often assumed to be able to perform various practical and social functions. But whether the spatial pattern of the planned neighbourhoods itself can be given some explicit theoretical foundation and be subjected to functional formulation, is a problem which has been hardly tackled by architectural research. 3. 3. Numerical Model of Beach Topography Evolution due to Waves and Currents: Special Emphasis on Coastal Structures

    Author : Thanh Nam Pham; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; morphodynamics; surface roller; wave-induced currents; random waves; sediment transport; coastal structures;

    Abstract : The beach topography change in the nearshore zone may be induced by natural phenomena such as wind, wave, storm, tsunami, and sea level rise. However, it can also be caused by man-made structures and activities, for example, groins, detached breakwaters, seawalls, dredging, and beach nourishment. READ MORE

  4. 4. Field Measurements and Predictions of River Flow, Sediment Transport and Morphological Changes

    Author : Qiancheng Xie; Staffan Lundström; James Yang; J. Gunnar I. Hellström; Anders G. Andersson; Nils Ruther; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Alluvial river; Sediment transport; Morphological change; Meandering; Confluence-diffluence; River training; Field measurements; Numerical simulations; Physical model tests; Machine learning; Alluvial flod; Sedimenttransport; Morfologisk förändring; Slingrande; Konfluens-diffluens; Flodträning; Fältmätningar; Numeriska simuleringar; Fysiska modellprov; Maskininlärning; Strömningslära; Fluid Mechanics;

    Abstract : In an alluvial lowland river, sediment is transported in the form of suspended and bed loads. The fluvial process is the macroscopic view and long-term consequence of sediment movement. READ MORE
