  1. 1. Movement Control after Stroke : Studies on Sit-to-walk and on the Relations between Clinical and Laboratory Measures

    Author : Gunilla Elmgren Frykberg; Jörgen Borg; Helga Hirschfeld; Charlotte Häger-Ross; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; stroke; sit-to-walk; movement analysis; force analysis; postural control; Berg Balance Scale; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi; Rehabilitation Medicine; Rehabiliteringsmedicin;

    Abstract : Aims: The principal aims of this research were 1) to extend existing knowledge of the everyday sit-to-walk (STW) transfer in subjects with stroke and in matched controls by exploring temporal, kinematic, and kinetic aspects, and 2) to investigate the relations between some clinical and laboratory measures of postural control and locomotion in stroke rehabilitation and research. Methods: Ten community-living subjects with stroke (mean age 59 years) and ten matched controls were enrolled in the STW studies (Studies I, II, and IV). READ MORE

  2. 2. Bimanual movement control : insights from golf ball striking

    Author : Fredrik Tinmark; Toni Arndt; John Rasmussen; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to gain insight into the control of complex bimanual movements that are both fast and accurate. For this, skilled golf ball striking was used as a model in two experimental studies (I and III). READ MORE

  3. 3. The Core of Aerial Robotic Workers : Generalized Modeling, Estimation, and Control

    Author : Emil Fresk; George Nikolakopoulos; Thomas Gustafsson; Ming Cao; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aerial robotics; generalized modeling; generalized estimation; generalized control; Reglerteknik; Control Engineering;

    Abstract : In this thesis we are going to explore what the operational core, both mathematically and algorithmically, of an Aerial Robotic Worker consists of, in order to estimate its egomotion and parameters, and adaptively control the aerial vehicle. Moreover, the aim of this thesis is to be a condensed reference for the corresponding areas of aerial robotics, in order to provide a stable and complete foundation on which one can continue research on. 4. 4. Human–Robot Interaction Based on Motion and Force Control

    Author : Martin Karlsson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Robotics; Machine Learning; Force Control; Motion Control;

    Abstract : Industrial robots typically require detailed programming and carefully configured work cells to perform well. The large engineering effort implicates high cost and long preparation time, and this is the major obstruction when mediating tasks to robots. The research in this thesis therefore aims to make robot programming faster and more accessible. READ MORE

  5. 5. Infants in Control : Prospective Motor Control and Executive Functions in Action Development

    Author : Janna Gottwald; Gustaf Gredebäck; Claes von Hofsten; Daniela Corbetta; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : infant development; action development; prospective motor control; executive functions; action planning; motor development; motion tracking; embodied cognition; developmental psychology; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : This thesis assesses the link between action and cognition early in development. Thus the notion of an embodied cognition is investigated by tying together two levels of action control in the context of reaching in infancy: prospective motor control and executive functions. READ MORE
