  1. 1. Biomechanical assessment of head and neck movements in neck pain using 3D movement analysis

    Author : Helena Grip; Gertjan Ettema; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : movement analysis; kinematics; helical axis; neck pain; whiplash; cervical spine; pattern classification; motor control; head-eye co-ordination; head movement; biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap; Biomedical Radiation Science;

    Abstract : Three-dimensional movement analysis was used to evaluate head and neck movement in patients with neck pain and matched controls. The aims were to further develop biomechanical models of head and neck kinematics, to investigate differences between subjects with non-specific neck pain and whiplash associated disorders (WAD), and to evaluate the potential of objective movement analysis as a decision support during diagnosis and follow-up of patients with neck pain. Abstract : This thesis aims at identifying and exploring properties and design aspects of human movement when used as interaction modality between people and technology. The work has been carried out with a multidisciplinary approach and combines theories, methods and practices from various areas such as modern dance, pedagogy, behavioural science, human computer interaction and research through design. 3. 3. Bimanual movement control : insights from golf ball striking

    Author : Fredrik Tinmark; Toni Arndt; John Rasmussen; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to gain insight into the control of complex bimanual movements that are both fast and accurate. For this, skilled golf ball striking was used as a model in two experimental studies (I and III). READ MORE

  4. 4. Movement pattern analysis of hypoglutamatergic mice. A model for cognitive deficits of schizophrenia and autism?

    Author : Marie Nilsson; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; schizophrenia; autism; cognition; movement pattern; video tracking; MK-801; mice;

    Abstract : Schizophrenia and autism are two severe neuropsychiatric disorders that are associated withprofound cognitive disturbances which considerably contribute to the long-term morbidity andthe decreased ability to function in the society. Currently used therapies do not reach the corecognitive disturbances to a satisfactory extent. READ MORE

  5. 5. Movement patterns and displacement of a soil insect

    Author : Elna Nilsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; attraction; repellence; fatty acid; Ecology; Ekologi; alarm; autoregressive model; autocorrelation; random walk; Protaphorura armata; Collembola; migration; dispersal; movement; displacement;

    Abstract : Movement and dispersal are important determinants of the spatial distribution and persistence of animal populations in a heterogeneous environment. I studied the small-scale movement pattern of a soil-living insect, Protaphorura armata (Collembola) by using a video-equipment. READ MORE
