  1. 6. Degradation of mullite based materials by alkali containing slags

    Author : Jesper Stjernberg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materialteknik; Engineering Materials;

    Abstract : Iron is one of the most important resources that can be found in the lithosphere; 90 % of all metal ores extracted are iron ore. Many steps are included in the extraction from iron ore to metallic iron, where the processes vary between different producers. Iron ore pellets, are a prepared burden material for ironmaking in the blast furnace. READ MORE

  2. 7. Assessment of ceramic raw materials in Uganda for electrical porcelain

    Author : Peter Wilberforce Olupot; Stefan Jonsson; Thommy Ekström; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; porcelain; characterisation; bending strength; dielectric strength; Uganda; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Clay, quartz and feldspar are widely available in Uganda. The location and properties of various clay deposits are reported in the literature, but little is reported on feldspar and quartz deposits. In this work an extended literature on ceramics and porcelains in particular, is documented. READ MORE

  3. 8. Characterisation of Ugandan raw-minerals for firebricks -before and after sintering

    Author : John Baptist Kirabira; KTH; []
    Keywords : firebricks; kaolin; ugandan minerals;

    Abstract : Development of products which can be produced from acountry's natural resources is very important as far as theindustrialization of a nation and saving foreign exchange isconcerned. Presently, industries in Uganda and the other statesin the Lake Victoria region import allrefractory-related-consumables, as the demand cannot be metlocally. READ MORE

  4. 9. Characterization of Ceramic Raw Minerals in Uganda for Production of Electrical Porcelain Insulators

    Author : Peter Wilberforce Olupot; Stefan Jonsson; Thomas Johansson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical porcelain; glaze; characterisation; multite; quartz; Uganda; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : In this work an extended literature survey on ceramics and porcelains in particular, has been documented. Samples from two Ugandan deposits of each feldspar and quartz were characterised by means of X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, chemical analysis and scanning electron microscopy and found to possess requisite properties for making electro porcelain insulators. 5. 10. Slag Formation During Pilot-Scale Pressurised Entrained-Flow Gasification of Woody Biomass

    Author : Charlie Ma; Christoffer Boman; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Pressurised entrained‐flow gasification (PEFG) of sustainable woody biomass offers the opportunity for envi-ronmentally benign production of syngas that is suitable for synthesis of fuels and other chemicals. During the PEFG process, ash-forming matter in the fuel undergoes transformations. READ MORE
