  4. 4. Compact RF Integration and Packaging Solutions Based on Metasurfaces for Millimeter-Wave Applications

    Author : Abbas Vosoogh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The millimeter-wave frequency range has got a lot of attention over the past few years because it contains unused frequency spectrum resources that are suitable for delivering Gbit/s end-user access in areas with high user density. Due to the limited output power that the current RF active components can deliver in millimeter-wave frequencies, antennas with the features of low profile, high gain, high efficiency and low cost are needed to compensate free space path loss and increase the communication distance for the emerging high data rate wireless systems. 5. 5. Hybrid Plasmonic Devices for Optical Communication and Sensing

    Author : Xu Sun; Lech Wosinski; Laurent Vivien; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Hybrid plasmonic (HP) waveguides, a multi-layer waveguide structure supporting a hybrid mode of surface plasmonics and Si photonics, is a compromise way to integrate plasmonic materials into Si or SOI platforms, which can guide optical waves of sub-wavelength size, and with relative low propagation loss. In this thesis, several HP waveguides and devices are developed for the purposes of optical communications and sensing. READ MORE
