  1. 1. Environmental Monitoring by Multi-Spectral Lidar Techniques

    Author : Petter Weibring; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; non-linear optics; fluorescence spectroscopy; scattering; multi-spectral imaging; Atom- och molekylärfysik; atmospheric pollution; Atomic and molecular physics; laser; remote sensing; lidar; DIAL; Fysicumarkivet A:2002:Weibring;

    Abstract : Multi-spectral lidar (light detection and ranging) techniques have been developed and employed in various environmental studies, ranging from concentration mapping of volcanic emissions to fluorescence imaging of historical monuments. In both absorption measurements of gaseous species and fluorescence imaging of stones, multiple wavelength excitation and multiple wavelength detection have been applied. READ MORE

  2. 2. Multi-spectral analysis of fine scale aurora

    Author : Hanna Dahlgren; Göran Marklund; Nickolay Ivchenko; Fred Sigernes; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plasma physics; Plasmafysik; Optics; Optik;

    Abstract : The Aurora Borealis is the visible manifestation of the complex plasma interaction between the solar wind and the Earth's magnetosphere and ionosphere. Ground based and in situ measurements demonstrate a prevalence of dynamic fine structure within auroral displays, with spatial scales down to tens of metres and time variations occurring on a fraction of a second. 3. 3. Land Mine Detection using Dual-Band Electro-Optical Sensing

    Author : Magnus Lundberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; land mines; regularization; nuisance parameters; detection; infrared imaging; occlusion modeling; multi-spectral imaging; prior knowledge; Signalbehandling;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the detection of buried and partially occluded land mines using electro-optical sensing. According to the Red Cross approximately 10000 people are killed and another 30000 are injured each year in mine related accidents. READ MORE

  4. 4. Towards Undistorted Fluorescence for Tissue Diagnostics and Therapy Monitoring

    Author : Haiyan Xie; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; upconversion; upconverting nanoparticles; fluorescence-guided-surgery; fluorescence diagnostics; photodynamic therapy; multi-spectral imaging; spectroscopy; biomedical optics; fluorescence; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Xie;

    Abstract : Fluorescence techniques for applications in tissue diagnostics and therapy monitoring were investigated and developed in the work presented in this thesis. The aim was to develop fluorescence diagnostics for the detection of malignant tumors and better delimitation of the tumor margins, using the enhanced contrast in fluorescence between tumor and surrounding healthy tissue. 5. 5. Sea Ice Concentration Estimation and Ice Type Classification from Dual-Frequency Satellite Synthetic Aperture Radar

    Author : Wiebke Aldenhoff; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sea ice concentration; sea ice; SAR imaging; sea ice classification; Fram Strait;

    Abstract : The sea ice cover in the Arctic has undergone dramatic changes in recent years. The perennial sea ice extent is decreasing by 12.2 % per decade while annual mean sea ice thickness has decreased by more than 2 m for the central Arctic Basin from 1975 to 2012. READ MORE
