  1. 1. Orchestration Strategies for Slicing in 5G Networks : Design and Performance Evaluation

    Author : Muhammad Rehan Raza; Paolo Monti; Lena Wosinska; George Rouskas; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; software defined networking; network function virtualization; orchestration; dynamic slicing; 5G; big data analytics; reinforcement learning; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Abstract : The advent of 5th generation of mobile networks (5G) will introduce new challenges for the infrastructure providers (InPs). One of the major challenges is to provide a common platform for supporting a large variety of services. READ MORE

  2. 2. Improving Soft Real-time Performance of Fog Computing

    Author : Vaclav Struhar; Moris Behnam; Seyed Mohammad Hossein Ashjaei; Alessandro Papadopoulos; Silviu Craciunas; Ivona Brandic; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fog computing; real-time systems; cloud; virtualization; Computer Science; datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Fog computing is a distributed computing paradigm that brings data processing from remote cloud data centers into the vicinity of the edge of the network. The computation is performed closer to the source of the data, and thus it decreases the time unpredictability of cloud computing that stems from (i) the computation in shared multi-tenant remote data centers, and (ii) long distance data transfers between the source of the data and the data centers. 3. 3. On the Role of Performance Interference in Consolidated Environments

    Author : Navaneeth Rameshan; Vladimir Vlassov; Manish Parashar; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Performance; Interference; Virtualization; Elastic Scaling; Utilization; Datalogi; Computer Science;

    Abstract : With the advent of resource shared environments such as the Cloud, virtualization has become the de facto standard for server consolidation. While consolidation improves utilization, it causes performance-interference between Virtual Machines (VMs) from contention in shared resources such as CPU, Last Level Cache (LLC) and memory bandwidth. 4. 4. Flexible and Programmable 5G Transport Networks

    Author : Muhammad Rehan Raza; Paolo Monti; Elio Salvadori; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; 5G transport; network function virtualization; dynamic resource sharing; software-defined networking; centralized RAN; network virtualization.; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Abstract : The advent of 5th generation of mobile networks (5G) will introduce some new challenges for the transport network. Different strategies can be employed by the network providers to address these challenges with the aim to achieve an efficient utilization of network resources. READ MORE

  5. 5. Distributed File System Metadata and its Applications

    Author : Mahmoud Ismail; Jim Dowling; Seif Haridi; Luis Veiga; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Abstract : Distributed hierarchical file systems typically decouple the storage and serving of the file metadata from the file contents (file system blocks) to enable the file system to scale to store more data and support higher throughput. We designed HopsFS to take the scalability of the file system one step further by also decoupling the storage and serving of the file system metadata. READ MORE
