1. The Measurement of Subjective Well-Being: Item Response Theory, Classical Test Theory, and Multidimensional Item Response Theory
Abstract : For over 35 years, modern science has conceptualized happiness as subjective well-being, which has until recently been understood as a dual construct consisting of an affective component (positive and negative affect) and a cognitive component (life satisfaction). Nevertheless, for the last five years, theoretical work and both quantitative and qualitative empirical work have suggested that the concept of subjective well-being omits both a lay and an Eastern way of understanding happiness. 2. Homotopy Theory and TDA with a View Towards Category Theory
Abstract : This thesis contains three papers. Paper A and Paper B deal with homotopy theory and Paper C deals with Topological Data Analysis. All three papers are written from a categorical point of view.In Paper A we construct categories of short hammocks and show that their weak homotopy type is that of mapping spaces. READ MORE

3. Project Management - Multidimensional Leadership
Abstract : Project management is increasingly becoming a complex role that more and more people within industry need to master. Today, project organising is used to perform tasks and solve problems of almost any magnitude, complexity, and direction. In many organisations, a significant part of the daily work is conducted by means of projects. READ MORE

4. Adaptive Multidimensional Filtering
Abstract : This thesis contains a presentation and an analysis of adaptive filtering strategies for multidimensional data. The size, shape and orientation of the flter are signal controlled and thus adapted locally to each neighbourhood according to a predefined model. READ MORE

5. Contributions to the theory of optimal stopping
Abstract : This thesis deals with the explicit solution of optimal stopping problems with infinite time horizon. To solve Markovian problems in continuous time we introduce an approach that gives rise to explicit results in various situations. READ MORE
