  1. 16. Aquatic vegetation in coastal ecosystems : The role of biotic interactions and environmental change for ecosystem functions and resilience in the Baltic Sea

    Author : Åsa Austin; Johan S. Eklöf; Joakim P. Hansen; Serena Donadi; Matthew E. S. Bracken; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biodiversity; ecosystem functions; ecosystem multifunctionality; water clarity; fish recruitment; functional traits; feedbacks; biotic interactions; competition; facilitation; foundation species; seagrass; macrophytes; lagoons; brackish water; Baltic Sea; marin ekologi; Marine Ecology;

    Abstract : Coastal ecosystems are among the most productive on Earth but subjected to many human pressures. In shallow coastal areas, aquatic vegetation constitutes foundation species that sustain secondary production and act as a nutrient filter, which may buffer human impacts. READ MORE

  2. 17. The Multiple Functions of the Reflexive Prefix in Hehe, Sukuma, Nilamba, and Nyaturu

    Author : Lengson Ngwasi; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; reflexive; reciprocal; middle voice; grammaticalization; North Eastern Bantu;

    Abstract : This dissertation describes and analyses the multiple functions of the reflexive prefix in four North Eastern Bantu languages, Hehe, Sukuma, Nilamba, and Nyaturu, all spoken in Tanzania. Apart from encoding the reflexive meaning, the functions of the reflexive prefix that are dealt with in this study are reciprocal events and middle events. READ MORE

  3. 18. Time-Dependent Many-Body Perturbation Theory: Possibilities and Limitations

    Author : Marc Puig von Friesen; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Many-body perturbation theory; Correlation functions; Hubbard model; Non-equilibrium Green s functions; Fysicumarkivet A:2011:Puig von Friesen;

    Abstract : This dissertation investigates the possibilities and limitations of time-dependent many-body perturbation theory by studying small Hubbard clusters for which the exact solution is available. The first part of the thesis is comprised of a short introduction to the concepts and methodologies used. READ MORE

  4. 19. Numerical methods for mapping of multiple QTL

    Author : Kajsa Ljungberg; Sverker Holmgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Beräkningsvetenskap; Scientific Computing;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns numerical methods for mapping of multiple quantitative trait loci, QTL. Interactions between multiple genetic loci influencing important traits, such as growth rate in farm animals and predisposition to cancer in humans, make it necessary to search for several QTL simultaneously. 5. 20. Psychological methods for the assessment of chronic toxic encephalopathy and multiple chemical sensitivity

    Author : Kai Österberg; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; industrial medicine; Occupational health; Psychology; organic solvents; personality; neuropsychology; multiple chemical sensitivity; toxic encephalopathy; Organic chemistry; Psykologi; Yrkesmedicin; arbetsmiljömedicin; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The dissertation deals with psychological methods aimed at improving the understanding and assessment of two disorders related to contact with chemicals: solvent-induced chronic toxic encephalopathy (TE) and multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS). The main aim of Paper I was to study whether the addition of some newer psychological tests of complex attention and executive functions to a traditional test battery would improve the detection of TE.
