7. Individual Differences in Multitasking : Support for Spatiotemporal Offloading
Abstract : In both the private and work spheres, multitasking among three or more activities has become and is continuing to evolve as a pervasive element of everyday life, and recent technological advances only seem to be exacerbating the process. Despite attempts to understand the mental processes that let humans successfully multitask, little is known about the functional cognitive level at which these mental processes take place. READ MORE

8. Convergence Analysis and Design of Multiple Concatenated Codes
Abstract : The objective of this thesis is to develop a methodology for designing efficient multiple concatenated coding schemes, consisting of two or more constituent codes, concatenated in serial or in parallel. Extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) analysis is found to be a suitable and versatile analysis tool for such codes and thus, the design methodology is based almost entirely on this technique. 9. Infectious immunity and pneumococcal vaccine responses in multiple myeloma and related disorders
Abstract : Multiple myeloma (MM), Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia (WM), and monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) are B cell conditions associated with suppressed immune functions and susceptibility to infection. Severe pneumococcal disease is common not least in MM patients and vaccination is considered important, although the protective efficacy is debated. READ MORE

10. Single and Multiple Motion Field Estimation
Abstract : This thesis presents a framework for estimation of motion fields both for single and multiple layers. All the methods have in common that they generate or use constraints on the local motion. Motion constraints are represented by vectors whose directions describe one component of the local motion and whose magnitude indicate confidence. READ MORE
