  1. 1. Nutrient imbalance in Norway spruce

    Author : Gunnar Thelin; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Silviculture; Växtekologi; Plant ecology; nitrogen saturation; base saturation; pH; multiple limitation; deficiency; copper; boron; potassium; pollution; sustainability; conifers; forestry; forestry technology; Skogsvetenskap; skogsbruk; skogsteknik; Soil Science; agricultural hydrology; Lantbrukshydrologi; marklära;

    Abstract : The studies presented in my thesis indicate that growing Norway spruce in monoculture does not constitute sustainable forest management in a high N and S deposition environment, such as in southern Sweden. The combination of N-induced high growth rates and leaching due to soil acidification causes soil reserves of nutrients to decrease. READ MORE

  2. 2. Susceptibility gene mapping in multiple sclerosis

    Author : Bing He; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by relapsing or progressive demyelination of the central nervous system (CNS). Increasing evidence supports that genetic factors confer susceptibility to MS resulting in an unknown mode of inheritance as a complex trait. READ MORE

  3. 3. Effects of farmland heterogeneity at multiple spatial and temporal scales on house sparrow (Passer domesticus) population ecology

    Author : Maria von Post; Biodiversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Farmland heterogeneity; house sparrow; agricultural intensification; farm specialisation; landscape complementation; resource separation; population limitation;

    Abstract : Strong declines of European farmland birds in recent decades are assumed to be caused by decreased food availability resulting from agricultural intensification and concomitant loss of farmland heterogeneity. One of the species suffering particularly strong declines in NW European countries is the house sparrow. READ MORE

  4. 4. Single-cell population genetics and dispersal limitation of a bloom-forming microalga

    Author : Raphael Gollnisch; Enhet akvatisk ekologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Gonyostomum semen; algal blooms; invasive species; population structure; RADseq; single-cell whole genome amplification; multiple displacement amplification; calcium; pH; iron;

    Abstract : Microalgal range expansions are increasing in frequency and magnitude worldwide mostly due to anthropogenic factors. However, they often remain unnoticed until mass development (algal blooms) occurs due to difficulties in detection when population densities are low. READ MORE

  5. 5. Fostering Dynamic Capabilities of SMEs. The Impact of Inward International Licensing on Absorptive Capacity and Networking Capability : A Multiple Case Study in Pharmaceutical Industry

    Author : Mohammad Reza Saeedi; Hossein Dadfar; Staffan Brege; Peter Ekman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Absorptive capacity; networking capability; inward international licensing; dynamic capabilities; SMEs; Iran;

    Abstract : Resource limitation and inadequate capabilities are the SME’s major problems. On this basis, alliances as vehicles of inter-firm collaboration provide opportunities for SMEs to obtain complementary capabilities and critical resources to overcome resource limitations. READ MORE
