21. Numerical Algorithms for Mapping of Multiple Quantitative Trait Loci in Experimental Populations
Abstract : Most traits of medical or economic importance are quantitative, i.e. they can be measured on a continuous scale. Strong biological evidence indicates that quantitative traits are governed by a complex interplay between the environment and multiple quantitative trait loci, QTL, in the genome. READ MORE

22. Process modelling in pulp and paper manufacture : Application studies with aspects of energy efficiency and product quality
Abstract : The manufacture of pulp and paper is an energy intensive process configured of several unit processes that shape a network of flows of wood chips, chemical pulp, mechanical pulp, board and other important components. Improved energy efficiency supports sustainability of the process and the products. READ MORE

23. Environmental Monitoring by Multi-Spectral Lidar Techniques
Abstract : Multi-spectral lidar (light detection and ranging) techniques have been developed and employed in various environmental studies, ranging from concentration mapping of volcanic emissions to fluorescence imaging of historical monuments. In both absorption measurements of gaseous species and fluorescence imaging of stones, multiple wavelength excitation and multiple wavelength detection have been applied. READ MORE

24. On the deformation behavior and cracking of ductile iron; effect of microstructure
Abstract : This thesis focuses on the effect of microstructural variation on the mechanical properties and deformation behavior of ductile iron. To research and determine these effects, two grades of ductile iron, (i) GJS-500-7 and (ii) high silicon GJS-500-14, were cast in a geometry containing several plates with different section thicknesses in order to produce microstructural variation. 25. Carbonation for fixation of metals in municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash
Abstract : The waste management is in need of a reliable and economical treatment method for metals in fly ashes from municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI). However, no state-of-the-art technique has gained wide acceptance yet. This Doctoral Thesis aimed at assessing the possibilities and limitations of carbonation as a stabilization method. READ MORE
