  1. 1. Factors Shaping Process and Representation in Multiple-Cue Judgment

    Author : Anna-Carin Olsson; Peter Juslin; Nigel Harvey; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; Multiple-Cue Judgment; categorization; cognitive processes; knowl-edge representations; exemplar-based models; cue abstraction models; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the cognitive processes and representations underlying human judgment in a multiple-cue judgment task. Several recent models as-sume that people have several qualitatively distinct and competing levels of knowledge representations (Ashby, Alfonso-Reese, Turken, & Waldron, 1998; Erickson & Kruschke, 1998; Nosofsky, Palmeri, & McKinley, 1994; Sloman, 1996). Abstract : 3D city models have been widely used in various applications such as urban planning, traffic control, disaster management etc. Efficient visualisation of 3D city models in different levels of detail (LODs) is one of the pivotal technologies to support these applications. READ MORE

  4. 4. Production and Characterisation of Aquaporins and Proton-Translocating Transhydrogenase

    Author : Mikael Ekvall; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aquaporins; transhydrogenase; membrane proteins; x-ray chrystallography; structure; protein production; overproduction;

    Abstract : Dissertation Abstract Water transport in eukaryotic cells is a highly regulated and fine-tuned process. Water channel protein known as aquaporins (AQPs), constitute the main cellular water transport system, preserving water homeostasis by maintaining specific selectivity-mechanisms. READ MORE

  5. 5. Multilingual text generation from structured formal representations

    Author : Dana Dannélls; Göteborgs universitet; []

    Abstract : This thesis aims to identify the optimal ways in which natural language generation techniques can be brought to bear upon the problem of processing a structured body of information in order to devise a coherent presentation of text content in multiple languages. We investigate how chains of referential expressions are realized in English, Swedish and Hebrew, and suggest several coreference strategies that can be used to generate coherent descriptions about paintings.
