  1. 1. Clinical presentation, prognostic factors and epidemiology of ischemic bowel disease in the very old

    Author : Maria Wadman; Geriatrik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; multislice CT; abdominal plain film; Ischemic bowel disease; elderly; epidemiology; operations; symptoms;

    Abstract : Background: Acute ischemic bowel disease (AIBD) is a potentially death-threatening vascular emergency predominantly affecting the elderly (>65 years). The prognosis is dismal and early diagnosis and treatment is of vital importance for the outcome. Clinical presentation is unspecific. The five studies were retrospective. READ MORE

  2. 2. Percutaneous Nephrostomies : Planning for an Optimal Access, Complications, Follow-up and Outcome

    Author : Eva Radecka; Anders Magnusson; Marianne Brehmer; Torbjörn Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; Percutaneous nephrostomy; Percutaneious nephrolithotripsy; Complications; Puncture technique; CT guidance; Radiologisk forskning; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning;

    Abstract : Percutaneous nephrostomy (PCN) is a well-established intervention performed to divert urine from the collecting system in ureteric obstruction or as a prelude to interventional procedures such as stent placement or percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL). The aim of this thesis is to enhance planning for an optimal insertion of PCN, investigate complications, long-term management, follow-up and outcome in patients with PCN treatment and to increase accuracy in CT-guided punctures. 3. 3. Optimisation of radiographic imaging by means of factorial experiments

    Author : Eva Norrman; Jan Persliden; Andreas Oberstedt; Bertil Axelsson; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : In the optimisation process of radiographic imaging, factorial designed experiments can be applied. The parameters (factors) are varied together instead of one at a time, making it possible to discover interactions between the factors as well as main influences of them on the result variable.
