  1. 21. Improving interpretation by orthogonal variation : Multivariate analysis of spectroscopic data

    Author : Hans Stenlund; Johan Trygg; Tom Fearn; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; OPLS; PLS; Multivariate Analysis; Orthogonal variation; Chemometrics; hyperspectral images; FTIR; NIR; spectroscopy; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : The desire to use the tools and concepts of chemometrics when studying problems in the life sciences, especially biology and medicine, has prompted chemometricians to shift their focus away from their field‘s traditional emphasis on model predictivity and towards the more contemporary objective of optimizing information exchange via model interpretation. The complex data structures that are captured by modern advanced analytical instruments open up new possibilities for extracting information from complex data sets. READ MORE

  2. 22. Compact-disc microfluidic methods for characterization of therapeutic antibodies : Analysis of post-translational modifications

    Author : Thi Thuy Tran; Gunnar Thorsén; McLean John; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microfluidic CD; therapeutic antibodies; post-translational modifications; glycosylation profiling; multivariate statistical analysis; MALDI-MS; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Characterization of post-translational modifications (PTMs) of therapeutic proteins is very important during the bioprocess development to maintain desired product quality and during the submission process to regulatory authorities for product approval. Monitoring glycosylation in pharmacokinetic studies can be useful to evaluate the dependence of clearance rates on different glycoforms. READ MORE

  3. 23. Surface analytical methods and multivariate data analysis applied to lectin panels

    Author : Jenny Carlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : In this thesis lectin panels on gold wafers were utilized to investigate sera from different mammals and meat juices from various species of animals. Lectins, which are a group of diverse, natural proteins recognize and bind to different carbohydrate structures present on the sera proteins and on the proteins in the different meat juices. 4. 24. Route attribution of chemical warfare agents : Retrospective classification of unknown threat samples

    Author : Karin Höjer Holmgren; Johan Dahlén; Crister Åstot; Peter Haglund; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Impurity profiling; Chemical attribution signature; Route sourcing;

    Abstract : Although chemical warfare agents (CWAs) are prohibited under international law, there have been numerous crimes that violates the 1997 Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) during the last decade, especially in the civil war in Syria where sarin, mustard gas and chlorine have all been used. CWAs have also been used in political assassinations and attempts thereof. READ MORE

  5. 25. Developing tools for non-target analysis and digital archiving of organic urban water pollutants

    Author : Cathrin Veenaas; Peter Haglund; Per Liljelind; Christine Gallampois; Mehran Alaee; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Digital archiving; non-target screening; organic pollutants; sewage sludge; GC-MS; GC×GC; LC-MS; time-trend analysis; retention indices; retention time prediction;

    Abstract : This thesis describes efforts to develop robust methods for the creation and use of digital archives of environmental samples, and proposes guidelines based on the results. Digital archives are repositories that store environmental samples digitally. READ MORE
