1. Multivariate Networks : Visualization and Interaction Techniques
Abstract : As more and more data is created each day, researchers from different science domains are trying to make sense of it. A lot of this data, for example our connections to friends on different social networking websites, can be modeled as graphs, where the nodes are actors and the edges are relationships between them. 2. Nonionic surfactants : A multivariate study
Abstract : In this thesis technical nonionic surfactants are studied using multivariate techniques. The surfactants studied were alkyl ethoxylates (AEOs) and alkyl polyglucosides (APGs). The aquatic toxicity of the surfactants towards two organisms, a shrimp and a rotifer, was examined. The specified effect was lethality, LC50, as indicated by immobilisation. READ MORE

3. Deciphering sequence data : A multivariate approach
Abstract : In this thesis, attention has been focused on the quantitative description of nucleic acids, proteins and peptides. The strategy was to use multivariate chemometrical methods for improving the understanding of the complex structural codes of these kinds of biological molecules. READ MORE

4. Univariate and Multivariate Surveillance of Outbreaks
Abstract : In many areas there is a need to monitor observations in order to detect changes in the underlying processes as quickly as possible. The theory of statistical surveillance provides the possibility of making optimal decisions about whether a change has occurred or not based on the data available at the time of the decision. 5. Continuous monitoring of mineral processes with special focus on tumbling mills : a multivariate approach
Abstract : Increasing emphasis on productivity and quality control has provided an impetus to research on better methodologies for diagnosis, modelling, monitoring, control and optimisation of mineral process systems. One of the biggest challenges facing the research community is the processing of raw sensor data into meaningful information. READ MORE
