2. Exercise-induced muscle soreness : a qualitative and quantitative study of human muscle morphology and function
Abstract : Exercise-induced muscle soreness is characterized by stiffness, tenderness and pain during active movements and weakness of the affected musculature the days after unusually or particularly heavy work. The most pronounced subjective symptoms do not arise immediately but rather between a couple of hours to some days after the exercise (a delayed-onset of muscle soreness), the intensity of pain is greatest about 48 hours after the work. Abstract : The Hampshire breed was introduced as the terminal sire in Swedish slaughter pigs in the 1970s, mainly to reduce stress susceptibility and associated problems of meat quality, such as the meat being pale, soft and exudative (PSE). Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to compare the effect of acupuncture, physical training and relaxation training on chronic tension-type headache (CTTH) and related symptoms through measurements of headache intensity, headache frequency, symptom characteristics associated with daily headache, muscle tenderness and subjective well-being. Abstract : Hampshire crosses of different genotype and sex were used to investigate the effects of rearing system, feed and handling on sensory quality, consumer preference and cooking loss.
