  2. 2. The Melody Phrasing Curve : A Visual Tool for Illustrating Perceived Musical Dynamics

Author : Ingemar Fridell; Musikhögskolan i Malmö; []

  3. 3. Effects of environmental acoustic factors, individual differences and musical training on speech perception in simulated classrooms

Abstract : Formal learning takes place primarily through speech perception in classroom environments and is therefore dependent on the listener’s ability to cope with a number of acoustic factors that interfere with the speech signal. As classrooms are inclusive spaces accommodating learners with a broad range of abilities and backgrounds, this research investigated some of the ways in which individual differences in supporting cognitive skills are related to speech perception outcomes in various challenging acoustic environments. Abstract : 'SHUT UP ’N’ PLAY! Negotiating the Musical Work’ is a piece of artistic research that attempts to merge artistic practice, qualitative research methods and critical analysis in a project concerned with contemporary performance practices, and specifically how these practices are created and transmitted in the interaction between composer and performer. By way of a critical reading of the musico-philosophical discussion of the ontology of the musical work and by way of a deconstruction of the concept of musical interpretation I propose a model in which the identity of the musical work is analysed as the result of interaction between multiple agents: composer, performer, instrument, score and electronics, among others.
