  1. 1. Evaluation of Myocardial Function in Chronic Kidney Disease : A Colour Tissue Velocity Imaging Study

    Author : Shirley Hayashi; Lars-Åke Brodin; Svend Aakhus; KTH; []
    Keywords : Cardiac; Kidney; Tissue; Velocity; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : In patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), overhydration, uremic toxins and left ventricular (LV) dyssynchrony are factors that may lead to LV dysfunction and conduction abnormalities and thus contribute to the high cardiac mortality. Colour tissue velocity imaging (TVI) allows a detailed quantitative analysis of cardiac function in CKD patients, opening new possibilities to evaluate longitudinal myocardial motion, rapid isovolumetric events, LV filling pressure and LV synchronicity. 2. 2. Myocardial Effects of Type 2 Diabetes, Co-morbidities, and Changing Loading Conditions : a Clinical Study by Tissue Velocity Echocardiography

    Author : Satish C. Govind; Lars-Åke Brodin; Mohbubul Alam; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medical technology; Medicinsk teknik;

    Abstract : Ever since the validation of the tissue velocity echocardiography (TVE) technique more than a decade ago the modality has been used rather successfully in various clinical situations, at rest as well as during stress echocardiography. Hitherto, dobutamine stress echocardiography has been the hallmark of all forms of stress procedures, now with TVE, quantification of the longitudinal motions of the left ventricle shows far superiority, with improved sensitivity and specificity in the functional diagnosis of coronary artery disease. 3. 3. Movement artifact reduction in laser Doppler blood flowmetry : myocardial perfusion applications

    Author : MG Daniel Karlsson; Karin Wårdell; Knut Kvernebo; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Laser Doppler perfusion monitoring (LDPM) and imaging (LDPI) enable assessment of tissue microvascular perfusion. The techniques are based on the Doppler broadening of the optical spectrum occurring when coherent laser light is scattered by moving red blood cells (RBC). READ MORE

  4. 4. Prenatal Tisse Velocity Imaging of the Heart : A new approach to assess fetal myocardial function

    Author : Nina Elmstedt; Lars-Åke Brodin; Britta Lind; Karel Marsal; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The general aim of this thesis has been to evaluate color‐coded tissue velocity imaging (TVI) as an approach to developing a new, non‐invasive assessment method for fetal myocardial function. Such a method could hypothetically give early indications of fetal pathology, as myocardial dysfunction is often the consequence when the circulation tries to adapt to deteriorating situations. 5. 5. Evaluation of isovolumic myocardial motions in human subjects using tissue velocity echocardiography

    Author : Britta Lind; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Colour-coded tissue velocity imaging (TVE) with Echocardiography is an established method for evaluation of the global cardiac function and of the regional myocardial movements. The TVE-technique allows measurements of velocity and deformation variables from any discrete point in the myocardial wall during the cardiac cycle with high temporal and longitudinal spatial resolution.
