21. Diffusion, Swelling and Mechanical Properties of Polymers
Abstract : Polymers capability to withstand harmful interactions withdifferent environments can be determined by looking at thetransport and mechanical properties of the material exposed tothe medium. The diffusion of a penetrant in a polymer and itsswelling characteristics can be verified by a simplesorption-desorption experiment followed by methodical analysisof the data. READ MORE

22. Development of Dual-broadband Rotational CARS for Combustion Diagnostics
Abstract : The present thesis concerns development and application of dual-broadband rotational coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (DB-RCARS) for temperature and species concentration measurements in combustion processes. Both fundamental development of the technique, including experimental as well as modelling results, and measurements in practical combustion devices were conducted. READ MORE

23. A Fundamental Adhesion Model for Asphalt
Abstract : One of the mechanisms for the deterioration of asphalt is debonding. This is often referred to as stripping. Most losses of adhesion at the bitumen-aggregate interface are attributed to the action of water leading to a reduction in properties such as tensile strength, tensile stiffness and wear resistance. 24. BlueBellMouse. A Tool for Kinetic Model Development
Abstract : The simulation of physical phenomena occurring in chemical reactors requires the description of the kinetics involved in the underlying combustion process. Kinetic models are developed for this purpose. READ MORE

25. CFD-based Analysis of Combustion Processes in a Free-Piston Diesel Engine
Abstract : The Free Piston Engine (FPE) which is capable of operating in a variable compression ratio mode, allows flexible auto-ignition control on a cycle-to-cycle basis without any hardware modifications. In this study combustion processes in an FPE were examined using the KIVA-3V CFD code with detailed chemical kinetics (305 reactions among 70 species) of a Diesel surrogate fuel incorporated.
