  1. 1. Model Order Reduction with Rational Krylov Methods

    Author : K. Henrik A. Olsson; Axel Ruhe; Volker Mehrmann; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Model order reduction; dual rational Arnoldi; rational Krylov; moment matching; eigenvalue computation; stability analysis; heat exchanger model; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Abstract : Rational Krylov methods for model order reduction are studied. A dual rational Arnoldi method for model order reduction and a rational Krylov method for model order reduction and eigenvalue computation have been implemented. It is shown how to deflate redundant or unwanted vectors and how to obtain moment matching. READ MORE

  2. 2. Studies of the Elemental Composition of Airway Surface Liquid with Relevance to Cystic Fibrosis

    Author : Viengphet Vanthanouvong; Godfried M. Roomans; Isabelle Sermet-Gaudelus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Anatomy; airway surface liquid; cystic fibrosis; Na; K; Cl; X-ray microanalysis; Anatomi;

    Abstract : Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an inherited disease with symptoms mainly in the respiratory tract. The airway epithelium is covered with a thin layer of fluid, the airway surface liquid (ASL). The volume and composition of ASL are important in the pathogenesis of cystic fibrosis. The composition of ASL was determined. READ MORE

  3. 3. Nutrient balance and salinity stress in arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi

    Author : Edith Hammer; MEMEG; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inoculum; Glomalin; Fatty acids; Osmolyte; Organic matter; K; Na; Salinity; Symbiotic exchange; Phosphorus P; Carbon C; PIXE; Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi; Rhizobium;

    Abstract : Earth’s primary production depends to a considerable extent on the mycorrhizal symbiosis, since mycorrhizal fungi supply their host plant with important mineral nutrients. I examined the influence of different nutrient regimes on the fungal partner in the arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis. READ MORE

  4. 4. Enhancing the circular economy: Resource recovery through thermochemical conversion processes of landfill waste and biomass

    Author : Ilman Nuran Zaini; Weihong Yang; Pär Jönsson; Ashwani K. Gupta; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gasification; pyrolysis; waste-to-energy; landfill waste; hydrogen production; circular economy; municipal solid waste; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : Currently, the global economy looses a considerable amount of potential secondary raw materials from the disposed waste streams. Furthermore, the existing landfill sites that often do not have proper environmental protection technologies pose a long-lasting risk for the environment, which urge immediate actions for landfill remediations.
