  1. 1. Porous Amorphous Calcium Carbonate and Phosphate : Synthesis and Application

    Author : Rui Sun; Ocean Cheung; Maria Strømme; Ken Welch; Denis Gebauer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; amorphous calcium carbonate; amorphous calcium phosphate; stabilization; crystallization; porous material; drug delivery; gas adsorption; Engineering Science with specialization in Nanotechnology and Functional Materials; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot nanoteknologi och funktionella material;

    Abstract : The synthesis of porous amorphous calcium carbonate (ACC) and porous amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) was developed in this thesis. Porous ACC with specific Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area of >350 m2/g was synthesized using a surfactant free approach. The high surface area of porous ACC was related to its nanostructure. READ MORE

  2. 2. In vitro characterization of nanodrugs at model lipid membranes

    Author : Rickard Frost; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; in vitro screening; nanomedicine; drug delivery; drug carrier; supported lipid bilayer; QCM-D; nanoparticle; cell membrane;

    Abstract : The use of nano-sized drug carriers to improve the efficiency of drug delivery has become well established during the past decades. New nanoparticle (NP) formulations for the administration of biopharmaceuticals (e.g. proteins and peptides) emerge at an increasing rate and the need for methods to evaluate their properties is expanding. 3. 3. Amorphous magnesium carbonate nanomaterials : Synthesis, characterization and applications

    Author : Jiaojiao Yang; Ken Welch; Mika Lindén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; high surface-to-volume ratio; nanoparticles; mesoporous; magnesium carbonate; amorphous drugs; supersaturated concentration; general adhesives; UV-shielding;

    Abstract : High surface-to-volume ratio materials, including nanoparticles and mesoporous materials, have a number of applications due to their large surface area and special structures. Traditional approaches for synthesizing high surface-to-volume ratio nanomaterials are often complicated, expensive or environmentally unfriendly. READ MORE

  4. 4. Exploration of Graphene-like 2D Materials for Energy Management and Interface Enhancement Applications

    Author : Ya Liu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Industrial Application; Graphene-like 2D materials; Interface Enhancement; Energy Management;

    Abstract : Ever since the discovery of graphene in 2004, graphene-like 2D materials and their derivatives have attracted extensive investigations because of their exceptional physical and chemical properties. At present, the study of graphene-like 2D materials is at a stage where most of their outstanding physical and chemical properties have been discovered, but the technology for incorporating them into practical commercial products is rarely revealed. 5. 5. Characterization of supported lipid membranes towards the development of nano-sized drug carriers for hyperthermia applications

    Author : Yujia Jing; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; size dependence; Supported lipid membrane; lipid phase transition; flip-flop; asymmetry;

    Abstract : So called thermosensitive liposomal drug carriers for temperature-controlled drug release under hyperthermal conditions have recently attracted great attention and advanced lipid membrane - nanoparticle assemblies are emerging at an increasing rate to meet the demands for multifunctional drug carriers in medicine. The rational design of these drug delivery systems will require understanding of lipid membrane physicochemical properties under conditions relevant to the medical treatment. READ MORE
