11. Nonresonant high-frequency actuation of carbon based nanoelectromechanical oscillators
Abstract : Carbon based nanoelectromechanical oscillators outperform their predecessors in many ways. In particular, their extraordinarily high quality factors make them very promising for sensor applications. To operate the nano oscillators, different kinds of actuation mechanisms are utilised, for instance direct or parametric resonance. READ MORE

12. Mesoscopic phenomena in the electromechanics of suspended nanowires
Abstract : Over the last two decades nanotechnology has been a very active field of scientific research, both from fundamental perspectives as well as for applications in technology and consumer goods. In this thesis, theoretical work on quantum mechanical effects on charge transport in nanoelectromechanical systems is presented. READ MORE

13. Diffusion-Induced Nonlinear Dynamics in Carbon Nanomechanical Resonators
Abstract : The emergence of nanoelectromechanical systems has enabled the development of sensors capable of detecting mass, charge, force, position, and spin with an unprecedented precision. In particular, the low mass, high resonant frequency, and high quality factor of carbon nanomechanical resonators make them ideal for the creation of a high sensitivity mass sensor. READ MORE

14. Electronic Control of Flexural Nanowire Vibrations
Abstract : “Nanoelectromechanical systems” (NEMS) are nanometer-sized mechanical structures coupled to electronic devices of comparable size. The coupling between mechanical and electronic degrees of freedom, combined with their mesoscopic size, provide these systemswith some unique properties that make them interesting from both the fundamental and technological point of view. 15. Toward Carbon based NEMS
Abstract : A systematic analysis and assessment of carbon nanotube (CNT) based NEMS switches is presented and their features are compared to typical complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) performance parameters. It is shown that CNT-based switches with considerably smaller leakage current compared to CMOS switches can be realized. READ MORE
