  1. 21. Thiols and disulfides self-assembled on gold, studied by x-ray photoelectron spectoscopy

    Author : Mikael Wirde; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : A number of different thiols and disulfides self-assembled on polycrystalline gold surfaceshave been studied using mainly AlKα-excited X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), but also Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Ellipsometry, Contact Angles (CA), Voltammetry and Temperature Programmed Desorption (TPD).Evidence is presented in this thesis that the presence of disulfides in long chain thiolatefilms reported earlier is due to radiation damage from the X-rays used in the X-rayspectroscopies. 2. 22. Metal film growth on weakly-interacting substrates : Stochastic simulations and analytical modelling

    Author : Víctor Gervilla Palomar; Kostas Sarakinos; Georgios Almyras; Pär Olsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Thin films are nanoscale layers of material, with exotic properties useful in diverse areas, ranging from biomedicine to nanoelectronics and surface protection. Film properties are not only determined by their chemical composition, but also by their microstructure and roughness, features that depend crucially on the growth process due to the inherent out-of equilibrium nature of the film deposition techniques. 3. 23. Fabrication, Characterisation and Modelling of Subharmonic Graphene FET Mixers

    Author : Omid Habibpour; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gate dielectric; Graphene; harmonic balance analysis.; subharmonic resistive mixers; microwave FETs; device modelling;

    Abstract : Graphene has exceptional carrier transport properties which makes it a promising material for future nanoelectronics. The high carrier mobility along with the ability to switch between n- and p-channel in a graphene field effect transistor (G-FET) truly distinguishes it from other types of FET technologies and enables completely new high frequency devices. 4. 24. Millimeter-Wave Impulse Radio

    Author : Mats Ärlelid; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Compound semiconductor; resonant tunneling diode; ultra wideband; 60 GHz; on-off keying; transmitter; receiver; and super-regenerative oscillator;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the opportunity of wireless multi-gigabit per second communication at the millimeter-wave (mmW) frequencies around 60 GHz by using impulse radio and nanoelectronics. Today most wireless communication take place in the microwave region, where several different systems and applications are crowding the narrow-band channels. READ MORE

  5. 25. Scanning probe microscopy studies of interaction forces between particles: emphasis on magnetite, bentonite and silica

    Author : Illia Dobryden; Neil Thomson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Experimentell fysik; Experimental Physics;

    Abstract : Scanning probe microscopy (SPM), such as the atomic force microscope (AFM), using colloidal probes is a highly suitable technique to probe single particle-particle interactions in aqueous solution. The interaction force between a colloidal probe on the AFM cantilever and sample surface is measured. READ MORE
