16. Functionalization and processing of porous powders into hierarchically porous monoliths
Abstract : Inorganic porous materials are widely used in a number of applications, where is a need to functionalize and produce materials with a multiscale porosity. The first part of the thesis describes how a novel and facile powder processing approach, using pulsed current processing (PCP) or, as it is commonly called, spark plasma sintering (SPS), has been employed to produce mechanically stable, hierarchically porous bodies from different porous powders. 17. Synthesis of carbon-covered iron nanoparticles by photolysis of ferrocene
Abstract : One important driving force in nanotechnology today is the change which can be made in the properties of a material when the dimensions of its individual building blocks are decreased below approximately 100 nm. Such small building blocks, typically nanoparticles, may induce new and unique properties compared to those of the corresponding bulk material. READ MORE

18. Aerosol Metal Nanoparticles and their Role in Particle-Assisted Growth of III–V Nanowires
Abstract : Semiconductor nanowires have properties that make them potentially useful for applications in future electronic, photovoltaic, and optoelectronic devices. A powerful nanowire fabrication technique is the use of a nanoparticle as a preferential nucleation site, from which a nanowire grows. READ MORE

19. Palladium-based Nanoplasmonics for Ultrafast and Deactivation-Resistant Hydrogen Detection
Abstract : In the hydrogen economy scenario, hHydrogen gas is ispotential to be the main energy carrier in the hydrogen economy scenario in the upcoming future. It receives much attention since the reaction with oxygen generates electricity and produces only clean waterhydrogen is attractive as energy carrier since the energy produced by its reaction with oxygen only producesleaves water as by-product.
