  1. 21. Nanostructures Studied by Atomic Force Microscopy : Ion Tracks and Nanotextured Films

    Author : Judit Kopniczky; Claes-Göran Granqvist; Lars Montelius; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; ion impact; surface tracks; electronic sputtering; WO3; nanoparticle; scanning probe microscopy; tapping mode; Fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis concernes two sorts of nanostructures: energetic-ion-impact-induced surface tracks and gas-deposited WO3 nanoparticles. Our aims to characterise these nanostuctures and understand the physical principles behind their formation are of general interests for basic science as well as of the field of nanotechnology. 2. 22. Building crystals out of crystals : Synthesis, structure and magnetic properties of iron oxide nanoparticles and self-assembled mesocrystals

    Author : Erik Wetterskog; Lennart Bergström; Markus Niederberger; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; iron oxide; nanoparticle; synthesis; self-assembly; characterization; electron microscopy; scattering; magnetic properties; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on the fabrication and characterization of self-assembled arrays of magnetic iron oxide (Fe3O4, γ-Fe2O3 and Fe1-xO) nanoparticles. The synthesis of spherical and cubic iron oxide nanocrystals, with sizes between 5 and 30 nm and narrow size distributions, is demonstrated, along with a rigorous morphological characterization of the cubic nanoparticles. 3. 23. The Character of the Particle Emissions from Possible Future Marine Fuels in SOx ECAs

    Author : Maria Anderson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heavy fuel oil; emission factor; marine fuel; black carbon; marine diesel oil; LNG; ship emission; liquefied natural gas; nanoparticle;

    Abstract : Particles in the ambient air come from both natural and anthropogenic sources. One anthropogenic source is combustion of fossil fuels. The awareness of these particles impact on human health and climate has increased the interest for the particle emissions from e.g. READ MORE

  4. 24. In vitro characterization of nanodrugs at model lipid membranes

    Author : Rickard Frost; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; in vitro screening; nanomedicine; drug delivery; drug carrier; supported lipid bilayer; QCM-D; nanoparticle; cell membrane;

    Abstract : The use of nano-sized drug carriers to improve the efficiency of drug delivery has become well established during the past decades. New nanoparticle (NP) formulations for the administration of biopharmaceuticals (e.g. proteins and peptides) emerge at an increasing rate and the need for methods to evaluate their properties is expanding. 5. 25. Nanoparticles : Engineering, Assembly, and Biomedical Applications

    Author : Do Kyung Kim; KTH; []
    Keywords : nanoparticle; superparamagnetism; self assembly; ;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with novel aspects through Nanotechnologyof"bottom-up"and"top-down"strategies in combination with Biotechnology as aninterdisciplinary study. The feasibility of chemically tailoredsuperparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION) forin-vivobiomedical applications has beendemonstrated. READ MORE
