1. Nanostructured Artificial Biointerfaces
Abstract : AbstractThe interactions occurring between biological systems and the surface of biomaterials hasbeen an area of strong research focus for a number of decades. There has been a realisation ofthe importance of macromolecular interactions and a consequent need to understandbiointerfacial events at the nanometer length-scale. READ MORE

2. Plasmons in Nanostructured Graphene
Abstract : Plasmons, collective electron density oscillations, provide physicists with intriguing challenges and possibilities. The inherent many-body properties of the plasmons together with their ability to localize light into small volumes make the plasmons interesting from both a purely theoretical viewpoint and an applications point of view. 3. Structure, Morphology, and Catalytic Properties of CuOx/CeO2 Model Catalysts
Abstract : Cerium dioxide, or ceria, is a chemically stable oxygen ion conducting material with a capacity to store and release oxygen, and is therefore extensively used in combustion catalysts. The Cu-Ce-O system has been identified as one of the most active catalysts for the combustion of carbon monoxide. READ MORE

4. Nanostructured Transition Metal Oxides in Cleantech Application : Gas Sensors, Photocatalysis, Self-cleaning Surfaces Based on TiO2, WO3 and NiO
Abstract : This thesis focuses on the application of nanocrystalline transition metal oxide TiO2, WO3 and NiO thin films in new “green” building technologies. Specifically, their physicochemical properties in photocatalytic, self-cleaning and gas sensing applications are studied. READ MORE

5. Nanostructured ZnO electrodes for solar cell applications
Abstract : In this thesis the possibilities of using nanostructured dye-sensitized ZnO electrodes for solar energy conversion in photoelectrochemical solar cells are investigated. In order to characterize the photoelectrochemical properties of unsensitized ZnO films, measurements were performed using a short laser pulse (laser flash induced current transients) and under continuous illumination (steady-state).
