1. High Performance LNAs and Mixers for Direct Conversion Receivers in BiCMOS and CMOS Technologies
Abstract : The trend in cellular chipset design today is to incorporate support for a larger number of frequency bands for each new chipset generation. If the chipset also supports receiver diversity two low noise amplifiers (LNAs) are required for each frequency band. This is however associated with an increase of off-chip components, i.e. READ MORE

2. Optical studies of crystal phase heterostructures
Abstract : III-V semiconductors are commonly used for a variety of optical applications, such as LED based lights and solar sells. Most III-V semiconductors, such as GaAs and InP, exhibit the zinc-blende (zb) crystal structure, but in the form of nanowires it is also possible to create them in the wurtzite (wz) crystal structure. 3. Optical detection of joint position in zero gap laser beam welding
Abstract : This thesis presents an experimental study on how to track zero gaps between metal sheets to be joined by laser beam butt welding. Automated laser beam welding is gaining interest due to its ability to produce narrow and deep welds giving limited heat input and therefore less distortions compared to other processes, such as arc-welding. 4. Photonic Devices and Applications based on Intersubband Transitions and Electromagnetically Induced Transparency
Abstract : Although photonic devices have experienced a rapid development lately, there is still room for substantial improvements in performance. From a telecommunications perspective, improvements in speed, size, integration and power consumption are desired. There is also a general interest in photonic devices with new functionalities. 5. Modeling and electrical characterization of Cu(In,Ga)Se2 and Cu2ZnSnS4 solar cells
Abstract : In this thesis, modeling and electrical characterization have been performed on Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) and Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) thin film solar cells, with the aim to investigate potential improvements to power conversion efficiency for respective technology. The modeling was primarily done in SCAPS, and current-voltage (J-V), quantum efficiency (QE) and capacitance-voltage (C-V) were the primary characterization methods. READ MORE
