  1. 1. Nuclear Structure Studies near 208Pb and γ-ray Imaging Techniques

    Author : Natasa Lalovic; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nuclear structure; gamma-Ray spectroscopy; AGATA; isomeric decays; relativistic projectile fragmentation; Pb isotopes; nuclear structure; gamma-ray spectroscopy; AGATA; isomeric decays; relativistic projectile fragmentation; Pb isotopes;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on a high-resolution γ-ray spectroscopy experiment where the fragmenta- tion of a 208 Pb primary beam was used to populate even-mass nuclei around 208 Pb. It was conducted in 2012 using the Advanced GAmma-ray Tracking Array (AGATA) while it was placed at GSI Darmstadt, Germany. READ MORE

  2. 2. Tumor-stroma interactions in hepatocellular carcinoma

    Author : Nataša Pavlović; Femke Heindryckx; Jessica Maiers; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hepatocellular carcinoma; fibrosis; endoplasmic reticulum stress; unfolded protein response; platelets; P2Y12; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a highly deadly primary liver cancer with a rising global incidence and limited therapeutic options, is characterized by a vicious cross-talk between the tumor and its surrounding hepatic stroma. The stromal environment, consisting of hepatic stellate cells (HSC), endothelial cells, resident and infiltrating macrophages and other immune cells, platelets and extracellular matrix (ECM) components, actively contributes to creating an ideal niche for tumor proliferation and invasiveness. 3. 3. Importance of pharmacogenetic and environmental factors for variation in caffeine disposition : with special emphasis on CYP1A2, CYP2A6, NAT2 and XO

    Author : Natasa Djordjevic; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Inter-individual variation in response to drugs conveys considerable risk of either therapy failure or drug toxicity. Caffeine, as one of the most frequently used psychoactive substances in the world, is not an exception, and both lack of effects and adverse reactions have been observed after usual doses. READ MORE

  4. 4. Novel Cutaneous Human Papillomaviruses and Biomarkers in the Skin Lesions

    Author : Natasa Vasiljevic; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; prevalence; E7 protein; Non-melanoma skin cancer; biomarkers; keratoachantoma; Human papillomavirus;

    Abstract : Non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC), comprising of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and basal cell carcinoma (BCC), is the most prevalent cancer amongst Caucasians. The main risk factor for the development of NMSC is UV-irradiation but human papillo-mavirus (HPV) might be a co-factor. READ MORE

  5. 5. Biomarkers in the tumor microenvironment with impact on treatment response and survival in head and neck cancer

    Author : Nataša Matić; Karin Roberg; Emilia Wiechec; Marcus Ressner; Lovisa Farnebo; Marika Nestor; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Head and neck squamous cell cancer (HNSCC) is the sixth most common cancer type worldwide and disease detects at a locally advanced stage in approximately 60% of all patients with HNSCC. Despite the advances in both diagnosis and treatment of cancer, therapy failure with local recurrence and second primary tumors as consequences is still a huge problem. READ MORE
