  1. 1. Volatile metabolites from microorganisms in indoor environments : sampling, analysis and identification

    Author : Anna-Lena Sunesson; Alvin Fox; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Adsorbents; Analysis; Cultivation; Determination; Gas chromatography; Identification; Indicator substances; Indoor air; Mass spectrometry; Metabolites; Microbial volatile organic compounds; Optimization; Sampling; Sick buildings; Thermal desorption; Aspergillus versicolor; Cladosporium cladosporioides; Paecilomyces variotii; Pénicillium commune; Phialophora fastigiata; Streptomyces albidoflavus;

    Abstract : Microorganisms are able to produce a wide variety of volatile organic compounds. This thesis deals with sampling, analysis and identification of such compounds, produced by microorganisms commonly found in buildings. READ MORE

  2. 2. Synthesis and modification of potential CO2 adsorbents : Amine modified silica and calcium carbonates

    Author : Baroz Aziz; Niklas Hedin; Lennart Bergström; Helmut Cölfen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Amine-modified silica; carbon capture; Fractional factorial design; IR spectroscopy; calcium carbonate; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Abstract : The prospect of rapid changes to the climate due to global warming is subject of public concern. The need to reduce the emissions of atmospheric green house gases and in particular carbon dioxide is greater than ever. Extensive research is performed to find new solutions and new materials, which tackles this problem in economically benign way. READ MORE

  3. 3. Narrow-pore zeolites and zeolite-like adsorbents for CO2 separation

    Author : Ocean Cheung; Niklas Hedin; Paul A. Wright; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CO2 separation; zeolites; phosphates; titanium silicates; ion exchange; flue gas CO2 capture; biogas upgrading; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Abstract : A range of porous solid adsorbents were synthesised and their ability to separate and capture carbon dioxide (CO2) from gas mixtures was examined. CO2 separation from flue gas – a type of exhaust gas from fossil fuel combustion that consists of CO2 mixed with mainly nitrogen and biogas (consists of CO2 mixed with mainly methane) were explicitly considered. 4. 4. Structuring porous adsorbents and composites for gas separation and odor removal

    Author : Neda Keshavarzi; Lennart Bergström; Kurosch Rezwan; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Structure; pulsed current processing; zeolite; aluminophosphate; activated carbon; CO2 separation; adsorption; durability; cellulose; film; coating; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Abstract : Porous zeolite, carbon and aluminophosphate powders have been colloidally assembled and post-processed in the form of monoliths, flexible free standing films and coatings for gas separation and odor removal. Zeolite 13X monoliths with macroporosites up to 50 vol% and a high CO2 uptake were prepared by colloidal processing and sacrificial templating. READ MORE
