  1. 1. Dye/Semiconductor Interfaces : An Electron Spectroscopic Study of Systems for Solar Cell and Display Applications

    Author : Karin Westermark; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Dye-sensitized; nanostructured; electron spectroscopy; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The properties relevant for electron transfer processes between dye molecules and semiconductor substrates, titanium dioxide (TiO2) and zinc oxide (ZnO), have been studied by means of photoelectron spectroscopy, PES, near edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy, NEXAFS, and resonant photoemission, RPES.For dye-sensitized solar cells, the currently used dyes are ruthenium polypyridine complexes adsorbed to the semiconductor via carboxyl linker groups.     Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dye-sensitized solar cells; dye; cobalt; triphenylamine; titanium dioxide; aqueous; PEDOT; Chemistry with specialization in Physical Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Due to climate change and its effects, alternative renewable energy sources are needed in the future human society. In the work of this thesis, the Dye-sensitized Solar Cell (DSC) has been investigated and characterized. READ MORE

  3. 3. XDSC : Excitonic Dye Solar Cells

    Author : Eva Unger; Gerrit Boschloo; Tom J. Savenije; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hybrid solar cells; energy transfer; dye-sensitized solar cells; TiO2; small-molecular semiconductor; hole-transporting dye; Chemistry with specialization in Physical Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Solar energy is the foremost power source of our planet. Driving photosynthesis on our planet for 3 billion years the energy stored in the form of fossil fuels also originates from the sun. Consumption of fossil fuels to generate energy is accompanied with CO2 emission which affects the earth's climate in a serious manner. READ MORE

  4. 4. Exploring Dye-Sensitized Mesoporous NiO Photocathodes : from Mechanism to Applications

    Author : Lei Tian; Haining Tian; Leif Hammarström; Fabrice Odobel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NiO; p-type; dye-sensitized solar cells; solid state; charge separation; charge recombination; charge diffusion; transport time; surface states; electron conductor; dye regeneration; Kemi med inriktning mot kemisk fysik; Chemistry with specialization in Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : Increasing attention has been paid on solar energy conversion since the abundant solar energy possesses the potential to solve the problems on energy crisis and climate change. Dye-sensitized mesoporous NiO film was developed as one of the attractive photocathodes to fabricate p-type dye-sensitized solar cells (p-DSCs) and dye-sensitized photoelectrosynthetic cells (p-DSPECs) for electricity and chemical fuels generation, respectively.
