  1. 1. PTF12os and iPTF13bvn : Two stripped-envelope supernovae discovered by the Palomar Transient Factory

    Author : Christoffer Fremling; Jesper Sollerman; Ross Church; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sovernovae;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on research made by the intermediate Palomar Transient Factory [(i)PTF], and it is particularly closely tied to the still ongoing research on the stripped-envelope (SE) supernova (SN), iPTF13bvn (Type Ib), that occurred in the nearby galaxy NGC 5806. This SN was initially thought to have been the explosion of a very massive Wolf-Rayet (WR) star, but I have shown that this is very likely not the case. READ MORE

  2. 2. Interpretations of old wood, Figuring mid-twelfth century church architecture in west Sweden

    Author : Kristina Linscott; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; architectural analyses; early medieval church architecture; common-tiebeam roofs; early medieval tapestry.;

    Abstract : The thesis explores mid-twelfth century church architectures in west Sweden. The architectures are investigated in the light of a case, five parish churches’ naves, in particular their attics and surviving mid-twelfth century roofs. READ MORE

  3. 3. Nanoplasmonics for Absorption Engineering and Hydrogen Sensing

    Author : Carl Wadell; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; palladium; hydrogen storage; absorption engineering; nanoplasmonic sensing; nanosize effects; plasmon enhanced chemistry; Localized surface plasmon resonance;

    Abstract : When light interacts with metallic nanoparticles smaller than its wavelength it can excite a collective oscillation of the conduction electrons that gives rise to efficient light absorption and scattering. Moreover, locally strongly enhanced electric fields are created around the particles. READ MORE

  4. 4. Electrochromic Plasmonic Metasurfaces for Reflective Displays

    Author : Kunli Xiong; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plasmonic; Keywords: Colorful electronic paper; Conductive polymer.;

    Abstract : Plasmonic nanomaterials provide brilliant colors that arise from the ambient light coupling to the free electrons in metals. In the Roman empire, noble metal nanoparticles were used for staining glass in Church windows and tableware. READ MORE

  5. 5. ON THE COUPLING OF THE LOCALIZED PLASMON AND INTERBAND TRANSITIONS IN NICKEL NANOANTENNAS

    Author : Zhaleh Pirzadeh Irannezhad; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Localized surface plasmon resonance; interband transition; nanoantenna; nickel nanoplasmonic; coupling;

    Abstract : Interaction of light with metallic nanostructures smaller than the wavelength leads to excitation of collective oscillations of “free” conduction electrons. This effect leads to locally enhanced electric fields inside and outside the nanoparticle and is called localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). READ MORE
