6. Road Surface and Tyre Interaction : Functional Properties affecting Road Dust Load Dynamics and Storage
Natural Ventilation and Air Infiltration in Large Single‑Zone Buildings : Measurements and Modelling with Reference to Historical Churches
Abstract : Natural ventilation is the dominating ventilation process in ancient buildings like churches, and also in most domestic buildings in Sweden and in the rest of the world. These buildings are naturally ventilated via air infiltration and airing. READ MORE

8. Stream monitoring using near-infrared spectroscopy of epilithic material
Abstract : The European Union Water Framework Directive (WFD), with initiatives to manage surface water resources, has increased the need for fast and inexpensive methods for monitoring conditions in streams. The objective of this thesis is to assess the potential of near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) of epilithic material to become such method. READ MORE

9. The zoo-geomorphological impact of fossorial rodents in sub-polar alpine environments
Abstract : The geomorphological impact of small fossorial mammals (adapted to digging and living underground), such as rodents can be significant, and both their direct and indirect effects may contribute to landscape formation. This thesis is based on empirical field studies of two burrowing rodent species in sub-polar environments, namely invasive House mice (Mus musculus) on sub-Antarctic Marion Island and Norwegian lemmings (Lemmus lemmus) in sub-Arctic Abisko. 10. Microclimate at range margins : Consequences for boreal forest understory species
Abstract : A warmer climate will shift species distributional range margins poleward, but near-ground microclimates may modify these shifts. Cold-adapted northern species at their rear edge may survive locally in microrefugia with a colder microclimate, and warm-adapted southern species at their leading edge may colonize stepping stone habitats with a warmer microclimate.
