    Author : Nazli Ismail; Laust Pedersen; Bulent Tezkan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Magnetotelluric; radio magnetotelluric; controlled-source tensor magnetotelluric; plane wave; near surface geophysics; sediment; fracture zone; inversion; forward modelling; near field effect; two-dimensional model; three-dimensional model; resolution; Geophysics; Geofysik; Earth Sciences with Specialization Environmental Analysis; geovetenskap med inriktning mot miljöanalys; Hydrology; hydrologi; mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Abstract : An integrated use of radio magnetotelluric (RMT) and controlled source tensor magnetotelluric (CSTMT) measurements, the so-called CSRMT method, has been employed in environmental and resource exploration studies. A number of case histories, including a groundwater investigation in glacial deposits, a study of fracture zones for geotechnical purposes and a mining exploration study of a copper deposit, are presented in this thesis in order to illustrate the usefulness and capability of the CSRMT method. 2. 7. Near-field scanning optical microscopy and fractal characterization with atomic force microscopy and other methods

    Author : Anders Mannelquist; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysik; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis is devoted to the development of near-field scanning optical microscopy (NSOM) for aqueous solutions and to fractal characterization of steel surfaces with atomic force microscopy (AFM) and other methods. NSOM combines optical properties from a light microscope and the technique of scanning probe microscopy, SPM (invented in the early 1980’s). READ MORE

  3. 8. Measurement System for Microwave Imaging Towards a Biomedical Application

    Author : Nikola Petrović; Ekström Mikael; Magnus Otterskog; Christian Pichot; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Microwave imaging; antenna applicator; data acquisition; nonlinear inverse scattering; elektronik; Electronics;

    Abstract : Microwave imaging techniques have shown excellent capabilities in various fields such as civil engineering, nondestructive testing, industrial applications, and have in recent decades experienced strong growth as a research topic in biomedical diagnostics. Many research groups throughout the world work on prototype systems for producing images of human tissues in different biomedical applications, particularly breast tumor detection. READ MORE

  4. 9. Millimeter Wave Imaging and Phased Array Antennas for 5G and Aerospace Applications

    Author : Jakob Helander; Teoretisk elektroteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; 5G; phased array; Millimeter wave antenna arrays; millimeter wave imaging; Computational Electromagnetics; Non-destructive testing NDT ; compressive sensing;

    Abstract : Phased array antennas are cornerstones in many proposed antenna solutions concerning the next generation of both airborne radar systems and wireless communication systems (5G). Additionally, millimeter wave (mm-wave) frequencies are expected to play an integral role in 5G, and are deemed well-suited for inspecting structural components used in the aerospace industry.
