  1. 21. The role of growth factors and oncogenes in growth regulation of normal, non-neoplastic, and malignant human mammary epithelial cells

    Author : Eva M. Valverius; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  2. 22. High-molecular-weight insulin-like growth factor 2 : immunohistochemical, ultrastructural and biochemical findings in insulin cells under normal, diabetic, and neoplastic conditions, and its role in non-islet cell tumour hypoglycaemia

    Author : Anders Höög; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Insulin-like growth factor-2; IGF-2; islets of Langerhans; B-granules; Diabetes Mellitus type 2; insulinoma; Goto-Kakizaki rat; haemangiopericytoma; ultrastructural immunohistochemistry; gene expression.;

    Abstract : IGF-2 immunoreactive (IR) cells were identified in the normal adult pancreas of man and rat and occurred exclusively in insulin-producing cells. When frozen human pancreatic tissue was extracted and gel-size-separated, a high-molecular-weight (HMW) IGF-2 peptide could be identified. READ MORE

  3. 23. Prevention of liver cancer in chronic liver disease : an experimental study of sodium selenite and rat hepatocarcinogenesis

    Author : Suvd Erkhembayar; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Selenium treatment in supranutritional but subtoxic doses has previously been shown to inhibit cell proliferation in preneoplastic lesions in a rat liver carcinogenesis model. The mechanisms are not known, but thioredoxin reductase (TrxR1), a seleno-enzyme essential for maintaining intracellular redox status and cellular defence against oxidative stress might be involved. 4. 24. The papilla of Vater : issues relevant to transpapillary cannulation and clinical management

    Author : Erik Haraldsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: Many endoscopists have since the beginning of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) commented on the variation in the macroscopic appearance of the papilla of Vater. How the macroscopic appearance of the papilla influences the cannulation efforts during ERCP has been discussed but not previously investigated in-depth. READ MORE

  5. 25. Chromosomal Instability and Genomic Amplification in Bone and Soft Tissue Tumours

    Author : David Gisselsson Nord; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nuclear atypia; kinetochore; anaphase bridge; p53; breakage-fusion-bridge cycle; TP53; HMGIC; MDM2; mitotic instability; genomic instability; FISH; osteosarcoma; liposarcoma; amplification; tumour; chromosome; cytogenetics; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Abstract : Acquired genetic abnormalities are found in all types of malignant tumours and may contribute to neoplastic processes by altering protein structure or dosage. Many bone and soft tissue tumours (BSTT) are characterised by complex patterns of chromosome changes, including extensive intratumour heterogeneity and amplification of DNA sequences. READ MORE
