  1. 1. Molecular dissection of the Goodpasture epitope

    University dissertation from Department of Nephrology, Lund University

    Author : Thomas Hellmark; [1999]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Urologi; autoimmune; anti-GBM nephritis; glomerulonephritis; nephrology; Urology; nefrologi;

    Abstract : Goodpasture disease is a prototype autoimmune disease that is characterized by a rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis, with or without lung haemorrhage, associated with autoantibodies against the glomerular basement membrane. The major antigen has previously been shown to be the non-collagenous domain of the a3 chain of type IV collagen, one of the six known a chains of type IV collagen. READ MORE

  2. 2. Long-term outcome of vesicoureteral reflux and reflux nephropathy in adults - clinical and radiological aspects

    University dissertation from Department of Nephrology, Lund University

    Author : Jan Köhler; [2001]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nefrologi; nephrology; Urology; Adults; antireflux surgery; pregnancy; reflux nephropathy; Urologi; urinary tract infection; vesicoureteral reflux; urography;

    Abstract : The aim was to study the long-term consequencies of vesicoureteral reflux and reflux nephropathy (RN) in adults, with regard to radiological progression, urinary tract infections, renal functional impairment, hypertension, and to determine if the extent of renal damage can predict the outcome. Attempts to differentiate between acquired and developmental renal damage were also made. READ MORE

  3. 3. Endogenous proteins as markers of glomerular function and dysfunction

    University dissertation from Department of Nephrology, Lund University

    Author : Jan Tencer; [1997]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glomerular filter; amyloidosis; glomerulonephritis; glomerular disease; proteins; proteinuria; Urology; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi;

    Abstract : Plasma and urine concentrations of endogenous proteins are frequently used in the diagnosis of kidney diseases and in studies of glomerular filter function. The main issues addressed in these studies were: storage of urine samples for subsequent protein analysis, use of protein concentrations in urine and in plasma in health and as markers of glomerular diseases, and the application of renal plasma-to-urine clearance of endogenous proteins in estimating the size-selectivity properties of the glomerular capillary wall. 4. 4. Autoimmunity in glomerulonephritis; serological diagnosis and clinical outcome with special reference to Wegener´s granulomatosis and microscopic polyangiitis

    University dissertation from Department of Nephrology, Lund University

    Author : Kerstin Westman; [1997]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Wegener´s granulomatosis; vasculitis; thyroid peroxidase antibodies; proteinase 3; myeloperoxidase; antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies; ANCA; thyroiditis; autoantibodies; glomerulonephritis; microscopic polyangiitis; Urology; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi;

    Abstract : Autoantibodies of different specificites have been described in association with glomerulonephritis and therefore the aim of this thesis was to improve our knowledge of the different manifestations of autoimmune phenomena which are involved in the glomerulonephritides. Special reference is made to Wegener´s granulomatosis (WG) and microscopic polyangiitis (MP) which are frequently associated with the prevalence of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA). 5. 5. Diagnostic and prognostic aspects of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies in systemic vasculitis

    University dissertation from Daina Selga Department of Nephrology, Clinical Sciences, Lund Faculty of Medicine Lund, Sweden

    Author : Daina Selga; [2007]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; serology; epitope; Wegener s granulomatosis; microscopic polyangiitis; polyarteritis nodosa; capture ELISA; Immunology; anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody; proteinase 3; vasculitis; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi; Urology;

    Abstract : Primary systemic vasculitis is associated with a high mortality if left untreated and it is essential to make the diagnosis before permanent organ damage has occurred. In this thesis the diagnostic and prognostic significance of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) in systemic vasculitis is investigated. READ MORE
