    Abstract : IntroductionPaper I: An Artificial Neural Network (ANN) was constructed to identify ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) and predict the need for Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI). Paper II, III and IV: Studies suggest that O2 therapy may be harmful in STEMI patients. READ MORE

  2. 2. Unraveling Mechanisms of Insulin Resistance in Type 2 Diabetes in Human Adipocytes : Role of extracellular signal regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) and forkhead box protein 01 (FOX01)

    Author : Meenu Rohini Rajan; Peter Strålfors; Mats Söderström; Olga Göransson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Type 2 Diabetes is characterized by hyperglycemia primarily caused due to insulin resistance in insulin responsive tissues and insufficient production of insulin by the β-cells. Insulin resistance appears to develop first in the expanding adipose tissue during caloric surplus and affects other tissues like liver and muscle by ectopic fat accumulation. READ MORE

    Abstract : Spinal neurons are important in several aspects motor control. For example, the neurons essential for locomotor movements reside in the ventral spinal cord. In this thesis, different motor control functions are being related to neuronal populations defined by their common expression of a gene. READ MORE

  4. 4. Brain Networks and Dynamics in Narcolepsy

    Author : Natasha Morales Drissi; Maria Engström; Gunnar Cedersund; Fredrik Elinder; Birgitte Kornum; Linköpings universitet; []

    Abstract : Narcolepsy is a chronic sleep disorder, characterised by excessive daytime sleepiness with frequent uncontrollable sleep attacks. In addition to sleeprelated problems, changes in cognition have also been observed in patients with narcolepsy and has been linked to the loss of Orexin-A in a number of studies. READ MORE

  5. 5. The Epstein-Barr nuclear antigens 1 & 5; Study of virus-host cellular protein interactions

    Author : Alma Forsman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Epstein-Barr virus; EBNA1; EBNA5; EBNA-LP; cellular network; virus-host protein interactions;

    Abstract : The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is the causative agent or cofactor in the aetiology of several human malignancies such as Burkitt’s lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and lymphoproliferative disorder in immunocompromised patients. EBV is a lymphotropic γ-herpes virus infecting more than 90 percent of the population worldwide. READ MORE
