16. Glial cell responses, complement and clusterin expression after lesions in central or peripheral nervous system
Abstract : The present Thesis examines the expression and role of complement and the complement regulator clusterin after central or peripheral axon injury in relation to the responses of non-neuronal cells. Following peripheral sensory nerve injury, complement was expressed in the spinal cord and brain stem in association with reactive microglia, which also appeared to be a local source of complement. 19. Molecular Evolution of Neuropeptide Y Receptors in Vertebrates
Abstract : The three evolutionarily related peptides neuropeptide Y (NPY), peptide YY (PYY) and pancreatic polypeptide (PP) are ligands to at least five G-protein coupled receptors in mammals, which are denoted by numbers. NPY has many physiological effects including stimulation of appetite and regulation of circadian rhythm and blood pressure. READ MORE

20. Pituitary adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide : Expression and neurotrophic activity in the rat brain
Abstract : Neurotrophic factors play an important role in regulating naturally occurring cell death during neurogenesis. In addition to classical neurotrophic factors, some neurotransmitters and neuropeptides have been shown to exhibit neurotrophic activities. READ MORE
