  1. 16. Diabetic neuropathy clinical and experimental studies

    Author : Per Lindström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : diabetes mellitus; neuropathy; ischaemia; sensibility; thermal sensibility; quantitative sensory testing; mammalian nerve; ouabain; osteopenia; neurophysiology; peripheral nerve; anoxia.;

    Abstract : A classification of impaired thermal sensibility is proposed, reflecting the severity of diabetic polyneuropathy in terms of its regional extension. The classification may be a useful tool in cross-sectional and long-term studies of patients with diabetes mellitus. READ MORE

  2. 17. Peripheral neuropathy in type 1 and type 2 diabetes – screening of vibrotactile sense and proteomics in human nerve biopsies

    Author : Erik Ising; Pediatrisk endokrinologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; type 1 diabetes; type 2 diabetes; peripheral neuropathy; vibrotactile sense; multi-frequency vibrometry; nerve biopsy; proteomic;

  3. 18. Taxane-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy among Early-Stage Breast Cancer Survivors : Prevalence, Risk Factors, Quality of Life and Genetic Prediction Models

    Author : Kristina Engvall; Elisabeth Åvall-Lundqvist; Henrik Gréen; Niklas Loman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Early-stage breast cancer; Taxane; Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy; Risk factors; Polygenic prediction models;

    Abstract : Background: Taxane-induced peripheral neuropathy (TIPN) is a common and distressful side effect. Little is known on how long TIPN persist and its effect on health-related quality of life (HRQL). READ MORE

  4. 19. Genetic differences in neuropathy and opioid responses in rats

    Author : Aleksandra Bulka; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Allodynia; genetic difference; neuropathic pain; NMDA-receptor; opioids; rat strains; pharmacokinetics; tolerance.;

    Abstract : The studies examined mechanisms and treatments of experimental neuropathic pain with particular emphasis on the differences between rat strains and sub-strains in basal nociceptive sensitivity, development of neuropathic behaviors and sensitivity to opioid analgesia. In order to study the mechanisms that mediate mechanical allodynia (touch-evoked pain) following ischemic nerve injury to the sciatic nerve in rats, the myelinated primary afferents have been examined in the injured and intact nerves. 5. 20. Measuring the tactile sense: Cortical mechanisms and clinical applications of tactile direction discrimination

    Author : Linda Lundblad; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : AIC; diabetic neuropathy; DLPFC; fMRI; hairy skin; psychophysics; QST testing; somatosensory cortex; tactile direction discrimination;

    Abstract : Most of the studies aiming to investigate the human tactile sense are done on the glabrous skin. Still, there is a need for a quantitative method for evaluating nervous function of the hairy skin. READ MORE
