  1. 1. Theoretical and Phenomenological Studies of Neutrino Physics

    Author : Mattias Blennow; Tommy Ohlsson; Eligio Lisi; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; neutrino mass; neutrino mixing; neutrino oscillations; matter effects; non-standard effects; the day-night effect; solar neutrinos; accelerator neutrinos; exact solutions; three-flavor effects; large density; neutrino decay; neutrino decoherence; neutrino absorption; non-standard neutrino interactions; seesaw mechanism; stability criteria; leptogenesis; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis is devoted to the theory and phenomenology of neutrino physics. While the standard model of particle physics has been extremely successful, it fails to account for massive neutrinos, which are necessary to describe the observations of neutrino oscillations made by several different experiments. 2. 2. Weigh them all! : Cosmological searches for the neutrino mass scale and mass ordering

    Author : Sunny Vagnozzi; Katherine Freese; Lars Bergström; Alessandra Silvestri; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; neutrinos; neutrino mass; neutrino mass ordering; cosmology; cosmic microwave background; large-scale structure; galaxy surveys; dark energy; cosmic inflation; data analysis; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Abstract : The elusive neutrinos are among the most intriguing constituents of the particle zoo. The observation of neutrino flavour oscillations, indicating that neutrinos are massive, provides the only direct evidence for physics beyond the Standard Model. READ MORE

    Abstract : The standard model of particle physics can excellently describe the vast majorityof data of particle physics experiments. However, in its simplest form, it cannot account for the fact that the neutrinos are massive particles and lepton flavorsmixed, as required by the observation of neutrino oscillations. READ MORE

  4. 4. Aspects of Dimensional Deconstruction and Neutrino Physics

    Author : Tomas Hällgren; Tommy Ohlsson; Stephan J. Hubber; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Dimensional deconstruction; higher-dimensional gauge theories; discretized gravity; neutrino mass; neutrino mixing; neutrino oscillations; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : The existence of at or curved extra spatial dimensions provides new insights into several of the problems which face the Standard Model of particle physics, including the gauge hierarchy problem, the smallness of neutrino masses, and the dark matter problem. However, higher-dimensional gauge theories are not renormalizable and can only be considered as low-energy effective theories, with limited applicability. READ MORE

  5. 5. Predictions of Effective Models in Neutrino Physics

    Author : Johannes Bergström; Tommy Ohlsson; Rikard Enberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neutrino mass; lepton mixing; Majorana neutrinos; effective field theory; Weinberg operator; seesaw models; low-scale seesaw models; inverse seesaw; right-handed neutrinos; renormalization group; threshold effects; neutrinoless double beta decay; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik;

    Abstract : Experiments on neutrino oscillations have confirmed that neutrinos have small, but non-zero masses, and that the interacting neutrino states do not have definite masses, but are mixtures of such states.The seesaw models make up a group of popular models describing the small neutrino masses and the corresponding mixing.
