  1. 1. Neutron-Deuteron Scattering and Three-Body Interactions

    Author : Philippe Mermod; Jan Blomgren; Steven Vigdor; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Nuclear physics; three-body force; neutron; deuteron; elastic scattering; angular distribution; Faddeev equations; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : High-precision differential cross section data of the neutron-deuteron elastic scattering reaction at 95 MeV are presented. The neutron-proton scattering differential cross section was also measured and used as a reference to allow an accurate absolute normalization of the neutron-deuteron data. READ MORE

  2. 2. Characterisation of the Neutron Wall and of Neutron Interactions in Germanium-Detector Systems

    Author : Joa Ljungvall; Johan Nyberg; Andres Gadea; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; High-purity Ge detectors; Liquid scintillator detectors; Neutron scattering; Digital electronics; Time-of-flight technique; Pulse-shape simulation and analysis; Monte Carlo simulations; Geant4; Gamma-ray tracking; AGATA; Neutron Wall; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : A Monte Carlo simulation of the Neutron Wall detector system has been performed using Geant4, in order to define optimum conditions for the detection and identification of multiple neutrons. Emphasis was put on studying the scattering of neutrons between different detectors, which is the main source of the apparent increase of the number of detected neutrons. READ MORE

  3. 3. Neutron Irradiation Techniques

    Author : Julius Scherzinger; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; actinide Be; fast-neutrons; NE-213 liquid scintillator; He-4 scintillators; pulse-shape discrimination; Cf-252; absolute detection efficiency; neutron irradiation; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Scherzinger;

    Abstract : The He-3 “crisis” has become a fact in the last decade and large scale neutron detectors based on He-3 technologies have become unaffordable. This new He-3 reality has resulted in a major effort worldwide to develop replacement neutron-detector technologies. READ MORE

  4. 4. Developments and application of neutron noise diagnostics of sodium cooled fast reactors

    Author : Florian Zylbersztejn; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neutron monitoring; Neutron noise; Fast neutron reactors; Core volume fluctuations;

    Abstract : The Sodium cooled Fast Reactor (SFR) is one of the six reactor types selected by the Generation-IV international forum (GIF), and the building of an industrial prototype is planned in France. The safety standard of the future SFR has to be equivalent to the EPR's. READ MORE

  5. 5. Experimental Studies of Neutron Emission Induced by Heavy-Ion Scattering

    Author : Pawel Nadel-Turonski; Leif Nilsson; Adriaan van den Berg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; neutron; inelastic scattering; heavy ions; position sensitive silicon detectors; storage ring; cluster-jet target; differential cross section; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : A beam of 250A MeV 17O ions was scattered from argon and xenon targets. The large excess of fast neutrons compared with statistical model calculations that was observed earlier for xenon, was confirmed and found for argon as well. READ MORE
