  1. 1. Development of Differential Die-Away Instrument for Characterization of Swedish Spent Nuclear Fuel

    Author : Tomas Martinik; Sophie Grape; Peter Jansson; Göran Ericsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The Next Generation Safeguards Initiative Spent Fuel (NGSI-SF) project was established in 2009 by the U.S. Departmentof Energy with main objective to investigate, and potentially develop and test new technologies for spent nuclearfuel (SNF) characterization. READ MORE

  2. 2. Geochemical and Mineralogical Characterization of Waste Rocks for Preliminary Mine Drainage Quality Prediction

    Author : Teemu Karlsson; Lena Alakangas; Päivi Kauppila; Berndt Lottermoser; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mine waste characterisation; mine drainage water; ARD; NRD; aqua regia extraction; ABA test; NAG test; SEM mineralogy; sulfide minerals; risk assessment; Applied Geochemistry; Tillämpad geokemi;

    Abstract : Acid or neutral rock drainage (ARD or NRD) with its attendant elevated concentrations of harmful elements presents one of the main challenges related to the management of waste rocks. Low-quality drainage is a particular issue with respect to mineral deposits containing sulfide minerals, of which pyrite and pyrrhotite are especially prone to produce acidic drainage when exposed to oxygen and water. 3. 3. Bacteremia in patients with hematological malignancies and neutropenia

    Author : Carl Aust; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : For hematological cancer patients, the risk of blood stream infection by bacterial pathogens is increased. Studies on pathogen panorama, efficacy of antimicrobial prophylaxis and antimicrobial resistance are important efforts to decrease morbidity, mortality and the risk of delays or reduction of intensity in cancer treatment. 4. 4. On the use of immersive technologies in the professional education of mineral processing

    Author : Pedro A. de S. Bergamo; Yousef Ghorbani; Jan Rosenkranz; Emilia Sofia Streng; Saija Luukkanen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineral Processing; Training Evaluation; Modelling and Simulation; Gamification; User Experience; Mineral Processing; Mineralteknik;

    Abstract : With the advance of technology, many educators started implementing immersive technologies like simulators and gamified learning applications to improve the trainings of process operators. However, it is noted that the minerals sector is significantly behind other industries, for instance, the chemical industry, especially when it comes to the evaluation of these types of trainings.
